💚 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY | 10 OCTOBER 💚
Behind every missing person is a story. Sometimes, that story involves someone struggling with their mental health, feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or unable to see a way forward.
At Essex Search & Rescue, our volunteers know that every missing person is more than a name on a callout. They are someone’s son or daughter, mum or dad, brother or sister, friend or loved one. Someone who matters. Someone who is missed. ❤️
When a person goes missing, our volunteers give up their time, often at a moment’s notice, to search fields, woodlands, waterways and open spaces, working alongside the emergency services to help bring that person home safely.
We never know the full story behind a callout, but we understand that behind every search there may be a person in crisis, a family desperately worried, and loved ones hoping for the phone call that tells them everything is going to be okay.
🫶 Mental health matters. Every person matters. Every life matters.
This World Mental Health Day, we want to remind everyone that it’s okay not to be okay. Please check in on your friends, family and colleagues. Ask twice if you think someone might be struggling, listen without judgement, and remind them they don’t have to face things alone.
Sometimes, a simple conversation can make a bigger difference than you realise.
And to our incredible Essex Search & Rescue volunteers: thank you for the time, commitment and compassion you give to helping people when they need it most.
💚 You are not alone. There is always someone willing to listen, and there is always hope.
