Have you heard of Iaido?

It's a traditional Japanese martial art centred on the controlled drawing and sheathing of a sword, with a focus on technique, concentration and precision.

Shiu Bu Khan Iaido is one of the many groups that meet regularly at St Mary's Island Community Centre, bringing something a little different to our weekly timetable.

The group meets on Monday evenings from 7.30pm–9.30pm.

November is here, and there's plenty happening at St Mary's Island Community Centre!

As the colder weather arrives, it's a lovely time to find something to look forward to during the week.

Our November calendar is filled with activities for different ages and interests, from fitness and creative classes to children's groups and opportunities to meet others in the community.

🎁 Can you help make Christmas a little brighter for a local family?

This November, St Mary's Island Community Centre is supporting the Salvation Army's Christmas Present Appeal, helping families in Medway who are facing difficult circumstances.

We're collecting donations of:

🎁 New, unwrapped toys for children

🍫 Christmas selection boxes

All donations will be distributed by the Salvation Army to help local families enjoy a happier Christmas.

You can drop your donations into the Community Centre office throughout November, or bring them along to our Christmas Fair on Saturday 28th November, where we'll have a donation table.

Every contribution will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for supporting local families this Christmas. ❤️

Did you know just how much happens at SMICC in an average week?

Our doors open to people of all ages, from some of our smallest visitors at baby and toddler sessions right through to groups bringing adults and older members of our community together.

There’s dance, fitness, art, music, learning, children’s activities, social groups, wellbeing sessions and plenty more happening throughout the week.

It’s what we love about being a community centre. So many different people, interests and reasons to come through the doors.

Karate is another of the many activities you’ll find happening at SMICC each week. 🥋

GKR Karate holds regular classes at St Mary’s Island Community Centre, giving people the opportunity to learn and practise karate as part of a group.

You can find GKR Karate at the centre on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm–7.30pm, with another session on Sunday mornings from 11am–12pm.

ME4 Choir is one of the many groups bringing people together at St Mary’s Island Community Centre each week.

You’ll find ME4 Choir at SMICC on Wednesdays from 1.30pm–3pm.

Another lovely group that forms part of our SMICC community.
