The Open Door Centre is the community outreach base for Carrickfergus Community Church; it’s where If you’re over 60, you’re really welcome to come along.

We are situated at the corner of Bridewell Drive and Sunnylands Avenue and are open most weekdays for a variety of programs and services. All our volunteers are Safeguarding trained and have a caring interest in the programs they take part in. WHAT’S ON

MONDAYS Connect Friends
Connect Friends meets on the second and last Mondays of each month from 2-3pm. We love getting together for crafts, playing games, going on trips and catching up over cake. TUESDAYS Playtime
Playtime is a parent and toddler group who meet on Tuesdays during term time from 10.00-12.00noon. Our Playtime session is set up for parents and children aged 0-3 to play together, meet with other families and enjoy time out of the house. WEDNESDAYS New group starting soon! THURSDAYS AND FRIDAYS Carrickfergus BabyBank
Carrickfergus Babybank is set up to provide emergency baby supplies to the Carrickfergus, Greenisland and Whitehead areas. We are open on Thursdays 6-7.30pm and Fridays 12.30-1:30pm and work on a referral basis. If you need our support, please contact us and we will send a list of our referral agencies who will work through the referral process with you.

At our last meeting of Connect Friends we had Phoebe Cullen come along and share the amazing work that she is doing. Phoebe delivered 450 Christmas bags of goodies to individuals in the nursing homes in Carrickfergus and Greenisland at Christmas 2025 and she is collecting donations for this year to do it all over again. what a inspiration to hear her story. To celebrate Positive Ageing Month across Mid East Antrim, Carrickfergus Community Chess Club is hosting a special Positive Ageing Chess Social!

Whether you are a regular player or just starting your chess journey, everyone is welcome to come down, enjoy a relaxed game and a yarn with friendly faces.

Time: 6.30pm to 9.00pm

Entry is completely free for older people on the night!
