Some goodbyes are harder than others! This year we say goodbye to Trica, Erin and Rachel! 😭😭😭
Rachel and Erin were both Ballycarry Rainbows themselves, aswell as being Brownies, Guides and Rangers!
Rachel made her Rainbow Promise on 15/9/2013 and Erin on 20/11/2018. Over the last 4 years as volunteer leaders I have watched them both grow individually and develop into amazing young women and really important members of our team! Aswell as becoming pros at colouring in, being tattoo artists, bakers, threading beads and skilled at cutting out x20 or what ever job I game them 🤣 they can now competently plan, implement and evaluate their own sessions at Rainbows! Racel and Erin have both shared their passion for drama and song and creating a fun, friendly atmosphere for the girls! They have brought their valuable young person perspective to our unit and do a much better job being in charge of the music play list and the dvd set ups! I've watched Rachel and Erin encourage and support your children as a group but also in lots of quieter moments individually, one-to-one, when extra support is needed and their help has been invaluable ❤️
Tricia has been a leader for the last 7.5 years!!! She answered our call for more leaders when we thought we might have to close. Her daughter Erin was a Rainbow at the time and she loved it so much she continued even after Erin moved to Brownies! Tricia has been my right hand woman helping to plan and organise our Rainbow programme and she has ensured everyone felt part of the team! She has always brought high energy, laughter and her incredible sense of fun and great friendship to our weekly meetings! She has been chief smore maker for all her time at Rainbows! Despite initial reluctance of Rainbow Overnights she now absolutely loves them and will the one requesting them! She has always said after a hard week at work, even when you are tired, you spend an hour with the Rainbows and you leave with a happy heart and a happy smile ❤️ Tricia has been an amazing volunteer for us in Ballycarry as a leader but also in her wider role in the Girlguiding Safeguarding team. She has always been girl focused, inclusive and will stand up for all girls' rights. She is a true Girl Guide!
We wish all our leaders every success for the future! Thank you doesn't seem nearly enough!!! We also hope Rachel finds another Rainbow Unit at University to continue her love of Girl Guiding!
