Meet FF Barnes! 🚒 📟
​Sam applied to be an on-call firefighter at Carnforth in June 2023. As a single mum, she was able to offer crucial daytime cover while at work during school hours.

​When we asked Sam what made her join, she said,
"I wanted a new challenge to give back to the community and meet new people—the fire service offered me all of that. I now feel I have an extended family. Physically and mentally, I have pushed myself harder than ever."

​Sam goes on to say, "I would recommend anyone looking for more job satisfaction to enquire. The service, especially the crew at Carnforth, has supported my journey to competent firefighter amazingly."

​Sam’s favourite part of the job so far? Learning to drive the appliance and responding on blue lights! 🚒🚨

​On-call firefighters respond to emergency calls via an alerter when needed. You don't sit in the station full-time, but you must live or work close enough to respond quickly (5 minutes) when a call comes in. 📟🚒

​What we need from you:
🔹 You live or work within close proximity to Carnforth Fire Station (able to respond quickly)
🔹 You are aged 18+ (or turning 18 soon)
🔹 You have a good level of physical fitness
🔹 You have employer support if responding during work hours (or you are self-employed / home-based).

​Whether you’re in a full-time job, self-employed, or managing a household, you could have what it takes to protect your community.

Saturday evening, we said goodbye to FF Fillingham after an incredible 15 years of dedicated on-call service. 🧑‍🚒👏

​Chris began his firefighter career at Hornby in 2011 before transferring to Carnforth in 2021, where he wrapped up his time with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. Covering two stations over a decade and a half is no small feat—it takes serious commitment, passion, and reliability to serve your community for that long.

​Thank you, Chris, for your outstanding service and hard work over the years. You may now finally take the battery out of your alerter! We wish you all the very best. 🚒📟

Hello everyone.

You may have seen that the A6 in Carnforth was closed yesterday following a collision. We can now tell you a little more about what led to the closure and want to ask for your help.

At around 10:35am we received a report of a collision between a grey Honda GB350 S-S motorbike and a silver Toyota Yaris on the roundabout at the junction of Lancaster Road (A6) and Longfield Drive.

The rider of the motorbike, a man in his 80s, was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury where he remains. The driver of the Toyota was thankfully uninjured.

Enquiries into what led to the collision are in their early stages, and an investigation is underway. As part of those enquiries, we now need to ask for your help.

If you were driving on that roundabout, or the stretches of road leading up to it, and witnessed or have dashcam that shows the collision, the aftermath, or either vehicle prior to the collision, we would be very interested in seeing it and speaking to you.

Remembering everyone who lost their lives 25 years ago today, all of their loved ones left behind, and anyone affected 🤍

I cannot believe it’s been 25 years, I will literally never forget coming home from school and seeing the news.

Today at 11:08 we were called to a collision at Crag Bank roundabout. Crews from Bolton-le-Sands and Lancaster were also in attendance. Crews made the scene safe using our environmental packs and assisted NWAS with one casualty.

We are appealing for information after a collision left a man with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called at just before 8pm yesterday following the single vehicle collision on the A6070 at the junction with the M6 J35 roundabout at Carnforth.

The collision happened when a BMW 1 Series failed to negotiate a left-hand bend and collided with a barrier causing serious injuries to the driver and sole occupant, a man in his 40s. He remains in hospital.

We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any footage such as CCTV or dashcam to get in touch.
