🚨Latest news – pay offer rejected and upcoming industrial action ballot

In April 2026, UNISON’s NJC Committee rejected the Employers’ pay offer of a 3.3% increase.

The decision was made to proceed with an industrial action ballot running from 9 July to 6 August in England and Cymru. UNISON strongly recommends that you VOTE YES in the ballot to get the pay you need and deserve.

Public service workers in Wales need a government that follows through on its promises. Rhun ap Iorwerth pledged to give public service workers annual pay rises and staff in the NHS, councils, schools and social care will expect him to deliver.

These workers kept Wales going through austerity, underfunding and rising demand. They deserve fair pay, proper investment and respect. UNISON Cymru will work with the new government through social partnership, but public service workers will judge this Senedd on delivery.

YouGov found that 81% of Reform voters want to keep bereavement leave. 57% want fire-and-rehire protections. 52% want the zero-hours ban.

Reform's Great Repeal Act would remove all three.

Even their own supporters don't agree. That matters on 7 May. 📊
