World Elder Abuse Awareness Day reminds us that abuse can affect people at every stage of life — including older members of our communities.
This year’s theme, Beyond Awareness: Making Elder Abuse Prevention Work, highlights the importance of turning awareness into action. From emotional and financial abuse to coercive control, neglect, and isolation, many older people experience harm behind closed doors.
As domestic abuse charities, we believe prevention starts with listening, recognising the signs, and ensuring older survivors can access safe, compassionate support without fear or shame.
Every older person deserves dignity, safety, respect, and a voice that is heard.
Together, we can help create communities where older people feel protected, valued, and supported. 💜
