There is a big misconception that badgers predate hedgehogs as a main part of their diet and are a factor in the loss of hedgehogs across England and Wales.

This is false.

The British Hedgehog Preservation Society have mapped out their new strategy to tackle the 6 key threats to hedgehogs. None of which are badgers.

The key threats identified are:

🦔Decrease in the availability and distribution of natural food and associated habitat
🦔Increased vehicle collisions
🦔Unintentional mortality and stress due to human intervention
🦔Accidental death and misadventure
🦔Toxin accumulation
🦔Genetic isolation

Things have got off to a great start at our Car Boot sale and Community day down here at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club
There are stalls, Cheshire Honey from Stockport Beekeepers Association, Derbyshire Rural Crime Team, teddy tombola and tasty food.
10am to 3pm

Whaley Bridge Bowling Club 10:00-15:00
Please note there will be NO parking at the Bowling Club so please park elsewhere and walk in.
The bar will be open, food will be available and we're all looking forward to a great time 😎

It is soooo hot! 🥵

If you have two minutes to spare, please put out a dish of water on this sunny, sunny afternoon and one again later tonight for those night drinkers 😜 The wildlife will❤️ it!

And if you can offer any support feeding too, that would be great. With the dry hard ground, many of our wild friends will struggle to source food, so any plain peanuts, dog biscuits, etc - would all be very welcome.

While the temperatures are soaring, if you have the ability, please put water out for all of our wildlife. They struggle silently when streams dry up and our help can save lives!

We are hosting a Car Boot and Community Social Day on the 31st May at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club 🥳 Car Boot sale, community stands, food from Blossomz Catering and of course the bar will be open 🍻 10am to 3pm

Beekeepers everywhere are busy dealing with swarms, managing their colonies and for some, cursing themselves for not being more organised over winter.
That’s not to say we are not planning some delights for all bee lovers everywhere in Stockport and surrounding areas.
