Regular training makes sure we can act fast – but the safest thing you can do is swim between the red and yellow flags every time you visit. 🏖️

All 14 beaches are now finished for the season.
A massive thank you to all our lifeguards for keeping beach users safe all summer long.
Wishing you all a mint winter and see you all next year for season 2025.

If you see anyone in trouble along the coast call 999 and ask for the coastguard.

30.08.24 Major first aid Sandsend.

Lifeguards at Sandsend were altered to a member of the public requiring medical attention.
Lifeguards Ailsa Legg and Alex Marr under the command of Senior Lifeguard Nick Woodings, immediately provided casualty care.
Senior Lifeguard Nick Woodings co-ordinated the incident requesting an Ambulance to the scene.

As the lifeguards carried on giving the correct casualty care, the lifeguards were updated with the response of the Yorkshire air ambulance was 11 minutes from the scene.
The lifeguards and coastguard were quick to respond and clear a safe space on the beach for the air ambulance to land.

With paramedics quickly on scene followed by an ambulance crew, the decision was made for the casualty to be taken to hospital via ambulance.

All emergency services team worked well together and the lifeguards were lucky enough to get this great photo with the crew of the air ambulance!

Over the weekend Supervisor Louis Evans and his lifeguards attended Withernsea’s Blue Light Weekend (10-11 Aug) and took part in a 1 mile coastal sea swim.
Senior Lifeguard Brent Mayman finished the race is 1st position 🥇👏🏼
Louis following just behind in 2nd place, combined they have £400 to donate.
1st 2nd & 3rd place win prize money to donate to one of the three following charities:
RNLI, Air ambulance, Hornsea inshore rescue.
