Crystal Hedgehog Sanctuary Wildlife rescue is a passion of ours and as been for 15 years now. Please join our page if you require any help or advice. We all are struggling for funds.

Wildlife Rescue is a registered charity that started operation as a rescue for hedgehogs. Through the years the sanctuary has grown and now helps to save a variety of animals from hedgehogs, to bats, to squirrels, birds, turtles and more. Most recently we have opened a dedicated Hospital Unit, in Keighley, which takes in sick injured, and orphaned animals. These animals would remain untreated or put to sleep - with us they receive warmth, food and care. In 2013 the charity treated 512 animals, most being able to return to the and a second chance at life. Please note we are still going to try to raise funds through donations and events. Money made is so that, for now, we can continue caring for our animal visitors in our homes and the homes of our volunteers. We also will be trying to send a donation along with anything that we need to refer on to another rescue.

My girls out enjoying the day on the allotment, I told them to eat grass but they have eaten most of my lettuce instead. This is what hens should be doing not sat in battery cages.

Another sick little Hedgehog has arrived, it has drunk a whole bowl of water and has now started eating, it was desperate. The lady who brought it in described it as a crusty mass on its spines and face. These are in fact blowfly and if not removed fast will hatch into maggots.

Just to clarify the difference in Hedgehog sizes. The large Hedgehog in the picture is in perfect health and is now ready for release. The small Hedgehog is a juvenile, old enough to be away from mum but very small and vulnerable and struggling to survive. Any Hedgehog in daylight is in need of help.

Another tiny Hedgehog has just arrived, number 13 in 3 days. Cold, lethargic and very thin. Please if you see a Hedgehog in daylight keep it warm, in an escape proof box and call a rescue, they seem to be having a lot of problems this year. And if you can put out a shallow bowl of water it could be a lifesaver.

What a difference a day makes. Lillie meadow this morning looking a lot more stable, a long way to go yet but she just needs time and TLC.

I get asked all the time how can I be bothered to rescue, and I have come to realise that it's not how can i be bothered, but more why YOU can't be bothered, all species on this planet have a right to our care and protection I do not think we have the right to harm them and use them. The cruelty now puts the human race to shame.
