🌱 NEXT COMMUNITY ACTION DAY – SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER 🌱
Look how far our Community Garden has come! 💚
At our last Community Action Day there was a real hive of activity – raised beds were filled, bulbs planted, screening installed, work started on the pergola and foundations prepared for our new tool store.
Now we're ready for the next big push – and we need your help!
📅 Sunday 18 October
⏰ 10am–12 noon
📍 Community Garden, Gwernyfed Park, Three C***s
There is still plenty to get stuck into as we continue turning this space into a garden for the whole community.
🔨 More construction and finishing work
🌱 Planting and garden jobs
🪨 Continuing work on paths and infrastructure
💧 Developing the garden's water system
🧹 General tidying, moving materials and plenty of other jobs
You don't need any special skills and you don't need to bring tools – just bring yourself and a willingness to muck in!
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Everyone is welcome, whatever your age or ability.
Come for the full two hours or just give us whatever time you can. Every pair of hands makes a difference.
One of the best things about our last build day wasn't simply how much we achieved – it was seeing children, families, neighbours and volunteers of all ages working alongside one another.
That's exactly what we want this garden to be about.

🌱💚 WHAT A MORNING AT THE COMMUNITY GARDEN! 💚🌱

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along to our Community Volunteer Day this morning and gave their time to help us continue building the Three C***s Community Garden.

What was particularly brilliant to see was the sheer hive of activity across the garden — people of all ages getting stuck in, working together, learning, chatting and having a laugh while making a real difference to our community. ❤️

And we certainly got through some work!

🪴 50 bags of compost went into the raised beds
🌷 Loads of bulbs were planted ready for next year
🔨 Screening and trellis fencing was installed
🏡 Foundations were dug and prepared for our new tool store
🌿 The first two posts for our pergola went in
🛠️ And our new secure tool shed was assembled

When we started talking about creating a community garden, this was exactly what we hoped it could become — not simply a garden built for the community, but something built by the community.

There is still plenty to do. We have more beds to complete, paths to create, the pergola to build, the pond, polytunnel and water system to develop, more planting to come and lots more besides. The garden will continue to grow and evolve over the coming months.

But looking at these photographs, it is already becoming something rather special. 🌱

Thank you to every single person who turned up, shifted soil, dug, planted, built, carried, made tea, offered advice, brought the children along or simply helped wherever they could. Whether you gave us twenty minutes or the whole morning, it all mattered.

And if you couldn’t make it today — don’t worry. There will be plenty more opportunities to get involved!
