The Wye & Usk Foundation is a registered charity concerned with ecology and restoring the habitat, water quality and fisheries of the rivers Wye and Usk and provides educational learning experiences in schools and wider settings. The Wye & Usk Foundation (WUF) is a registered charity concerned with ecology and, more specifically, restoring the habitat, water quality and fisheries of the rivers Wye

and Usk. The Foundation is more than just a lobbying organisation: through a series of partnership projects, we raise significant sums of money to remedy problems such as habitat degradation, poor water quality and diffuse pollution, barriers to fish migration and over-exploitation of our fisheries.

The Wye and Usk Foundation were pleased to support the RWAS Grassland Event 2026 event. We had a great day talking with farmers the Foundation has worked with, past and present. Always great to catch up and have a nice chat. šŸ‘

World Fish Migration Day is a global awareness campaign held every two years to celebrate migratory fish and the rivers they depend on, emphasizing the connection between humans, rivers, and aquatic life.
The 2026 theme, focuses on the cultural, spiritual, and ecological links between people and rivers, encouraging communities to learn about and protect migratory fish.
WUF are collaborating with Radnorshire Wildlife Trust and Natural Resources Wales, for this event to celebrate World Fish Migration Day, offering activities for all ages.

Join us at Gilfach Nature Reserve for a day celebrating the incredible journeys of migratory fish.

We've done really well so far raising almost £14,000! But with only a few hours left until the offer ends, we still have £3000 of match funding available from our wonderful Big Give Champion, Garfield Weston Foundation.
Which means donations received before midday today can still be DOUBLED !
Unfortunately, donations made via any other channels won’t be match funded.

Our Big Give Earth Raise Campaign ā€˜Reading the River’, aims to raise Ā£20,000 to support our vital fish population monitoring across the Wye and Usk catchments. The continued decline of Atlantic salmon over the past decade is a serious concern, and this work plays a key role in helping us identify remaining strongholds and target restoration efforts where they will have the greatest impact.
This is the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful difference to our rivers.
