From delivering wellbeing workshops, play sessions, and women’s circles, to hosting Black maternal health events, attending the MEC Health Fair and our first ‘Let’s Talk Health’ Conference, and connecting with incredible communities and organisations across Wales, every moment reminded us why this work matters.
We were also incredibly honoured to be nominated for Volunteer Organisation of the Year, celebrating the passion, commitment and care of our volunteers and wider community, alongside C3SC 🏆

Today on we want to highlight the mental health challenges faced by Black, Asian, and minority ethnic women not just maternal mental health, but all mental health disparities and call on the Welsh Government to recognise and support us.

Black women are more than twice as likely to be hospitalised with perinatal mental illness.
Minority ethnic women are less likely to access mental health services, leading to worse outcomes.
Anxiety, depression, and stress are more prevalent in BAME women.
We need equitable, culturally sensitive services, better funding, and community-focused support so that all women can access the care they need. 💜

🌸 This Black Maternal Mental Health Week 2025, the Women’s Advocacy Network proudly supports and commends the work of The Motherhood Groupfor their tireless efforts in championing maternal mental health.
We are committed to ensuring equitable care for all women across the UK, including minority women in Wales, so that every mother receives the support she deserves. Mental health care should be inclusive, culturally sensitive, and accessible to all.
We are proud to see partnerships with the Welsh Government and other organizations helping to break down barriers and create a system where every woman is seen, heard, and supported.
💜 Together, we can ensure maternal mental health is a priority for all.

🍃 Summer 2025 ! Wrapped with Purpose & Play! 🍃🌞
As the sun sets on an inspiring summer, we’re reflecting on the joy, connection, and community action that took place at our Family Nature Club at Grange Pavilion
In collaboration with, Green Soul Cardiff, and the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, we delivered:

🌿 Nature-based activities and crafts
🦋 Outdoor adventures for families
🍎 Free healthy packed lunches
💬 Space for meaningful conversations on tackling child poverty

This summer wasn't just about play — it was also about listening to families, learning from their experiences, and sharing views on the new Welsh Government Child Poverty Strategy.

We created a safe, welcoming space for parents and carers to speak about the real challenges they face and the support they need. Their voices matter, and we’ll continue to push for community-led solutions that centre dignity, wellbeing, and opportunity for every child. 💚

Thank you to everyone who joined us. The conversations don’t end here and neither does our commitment.

We invite you to Let’s Talk Health, a roundtable event which is centred around women and girls from Black, Asian, Mixed heritage, and other minoritised communities in Wales.

The event will be taking place on Saturday, 15 February 2025, between 10am-3pm at the Grange Pavilion

This roundtable event aims to bring together women and girls from minoritised communities across Wales to discuss how health services are provided and how they can better meet the needs of our communities. Your insights and experiences would be incredibly valuable in shaping this conversation. Refreshments will be provided

So please come and join us if you are a community member or a service provider to discuss health and well-being topics that matter to you and explore how services can be better designed to meet the needs of women of colour. You’ll hear from inspiring speakers and have a chance to share your own lived experiences in a supportive and empowering space.

The event is kindly sponsored by Leigh Day and funded by@rosafund

What a great afternoon on Saturday climate crafting with women, girls and families and discussing climate change Grange Pavilion. Very important conversations around how the climate crisis affects ethnic minorities.
