Looking for a hall or room to hire?

Look no further than your local Community Centre. We have a large hall and a variety of rooms, varying in size, available to hire by the hour or day at very reasonable rates.

• Hall suitable for gatherings of up to 70 people.
• Smaller rooms available for meetings, just the once or ongoing.
• Modern kitchen facilities – including oven, microwave and fridge with a serving hatch through to the hall (we can also help you arrange caterers if required).
• Disabled access and a properly equipped disabled toilet.
• Automatic plumbed-in urn which can dispense enough hot water to keep even the biggest of groups happy!
• Plenty of comfortable seating and free wi-fi on request, plus we have various pieces of equipment available – a screen for PowerPoint presentations (or slide shows), irons for craft groups, art books and so on.
• Car parking available.

ILLUSTRATION 101 - A FIVE-WEEK BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO TRADITIONAL ILLUSTRATION (TECHNIQUES)
Starting 12 November 2026 - Thursdays 9.30am to 12pm
Price £45.00 for the five sessions (payable in advance)

This five-week course is aimed at beginners with no industry experience. We will look at different traditional illustrative styles from graphic novels to Ladybird book artists and hands on experience with graphite, ink, alcohol inks, watercolour and gouache paints.

Create a fully realised traditional illustration based on a short story, passage or poem, gently guided by your experienced tutor who is also a published artist and illustrator.

Practical knowledge tips on how to create a portfolio, query publishers, pitch to authors and navigate basic illustration contracts.
A sketchpad, HB pencil, eraser, and masking tape are all the requirements.

St Peter Blake, diving into pop and mass media culture of the art of appropriation.

Week 4:
Analysing the profound impact of Chinese and Japanese woodblock prints and paintings on Western masters.
