We are proud to have collaborated with Braintree District Council and the Wilderness Foundation to establish this community garden on the Braintree Recreation Ground.

The new Braintree Community Garden offers a therapeutic space for the whole community. 🌳🌲

Designed to support adults with their mental health, the Braintree Community Garden offers a nurturing environment for gardening, socialising, and finding support.

The garden is located on the Braintree Recreational Ground, and is a collaborative effort between Braintree District Council, the Wilderness Foundation UK and Braintree Recreation CIO.

The Wilderness Foundation UK will be holding weekly fully funded gardening sessions every Thursday as part of their commitment to promoting mental wellbeing through nature-based activities. To take part download a referral form from their website.

Over the next 3 weeks, you may see some work being completed in the nature area as part of our exciting new project. More details will be released soon but in the meantime, please do not enter and remain clear of the fenced area, especially those with children and dogs.

Is this your car at the Bottom of the Braintree Rec? It looks like the Handbrake is off and has rolled into the middle of Julien Court Road! Please collect asap!

The path is now clear again. Fortunately there was no damage to the newly planted trees or benches.

This has also created an impromptu bench (picture 2), which we’ll move more centrally over the next few weeks (as well as tidying the area up). A huge thank you to Dave, one of our Groundsmen, who cut up the tree and moved it within 40 mins of hearing about it.

We are aware of the tree which has fallen as a result of the high winds today. This is located on the public right of way though the middle of The Rec.

We will get this removed or at least off the path ASAP. For now the grass is still firm and flat around it, so please do walk around it.
