✨ Celebrating 2 Years of Pause Charity ✨

Today marks 2 years since Pause Charity became a registered UK charity — and what a great journey it has been.

Founded on 14 February 2024, Pause Charity was created with a simple but powerful purpose: to nurture bonds between people, animals, and our planet.

Over the past two years, we have supported meaningful connections, created opportunities for healing and learning, and helped individuals rediscover confidence, wellbeing, and belonging through compassionate, nature- and animal-centred experiences.

None of this would be possible without our supporters, partners, volunteers, and the wonderful community who believe in our mission. Thank you for being part of our story — and for helping us continue to grow kindness, connection, and care for the world around us.

"New Year, new me!"

Many of us will make grand resolutions coming into the new year, but often they are unrealistic and we give up by February.

Have you thought about doing 2025 bingo instead? Think of around 9 things you would like to do this year and cross them off as you do them. Some things on our card are to dedicate one day a month to self-care, read and cook more, and catch up with old friends.

Resolutions don’t have to be about productivity, improvement or giving up vices.

They can simply be about making you happy 💚

Thousands of people across the South are affected by hygiene poverty, with the increased cost of living meaning some families can go without having simple necessities like soap, toothpaste and personal care products.

Throughout January BBC Radio Solent is helping collect donated toiletries and cleaning products, for community schemes to redistribute to those who need them.

You can show your support - and be part of the BBC Radio Solent Soapbox Appeal - by donating unopened items at drop off locations throughout Hampshire, Dorset and Isle of Wight.

New Year is a time for reflection, on how we’ve grown this year and what we want to gain from the next. It can be hard to recognise our own achievements sometimes, so this is our gentle reminder to you to remember how kind, helpful and strong you are, regardless of the amount of ‘big wins’ you had. In the end, it doesn’t matter if you have an expensive car and a big house, it’s those (humans and animals!) you spend your time with, and how you make each other feel valued and happy.

It’s been stress awareness week this week, so a perfect time to talk about the benefits of human-animal interaction.

Human-animal interaction has been shown to reduce stress, blood pressure and pain, and improve self-esteem, memory and wellbeing. You can feel these benefits after spending just 10 minutes with an animal.
