Do you know the story of Len Pick and the incredible legacy he left to Bourne?
Born in 1909, Len was a Bourne man through and through. A successful businessman, farmer and local councillor, he cared deeply about his hometown.
But what few people knew was that Len had quietly arranged to leave his fortune to the town he loved, swearing six trusted friends to secrecy!
When he died in 2004, aged 94, his extraordinary gift was revealed. The Len Pick Trust was established with over £4 million to improve the lives of local people for generations to come.
And that legacy lives on today.
The Trust was one of Don't Lose Hope's earliest supporters, helping us establish our counselling rooms and café seven years ago.
Their support continues today, most recently helping fund free and low-cost counselling for children and young people, and our Befriending Service, bringing companionship to those who might otherwise feel isolated.
Len never got to see Don't Lose Hope, but his generosity helped make it possible.
We are enormously grateful to the Len Pick Trust and its trustees for their continued belief in our work.
We hope Len would be proud of what Don't Lose Hope has become – sharing his belief in community, kindness and looking after one another, and making Bourne a better place for everyone.
