That's where we're heading this Sunday if you want to join us in Blackford at 10am (9:30 for prayer) or in Braco and onlinefrom 11:30. For a long time I believed I had to earn my worth. Climb higher, push harder, and maybe then I would finally be enough.

It is an exhausting way to live. There is always another summit, another test, another way you have fallen short. You never quite arrive.

The thing that finally set me free was grace.

Grace is the wild, almost unbelievable idea at the very heart of the Christian faith. That we are already loved, fully and completely, not for what we have achieved, but in spite of every way we fall short. That Jesus meets us exactly as we are, mess and all, and calls us friend anyway.

I did not have to become impressive for God to love me. I did not have to summit anything. I simply had to stop striving long enough to accept a gift I could never have earned in a thousand lifetimes.

And that truth changed how I see everyone else too. If I am loved like that, undeserving and all, then so is the person in front of me. It makes you gentler, slower to judge, quicker to forgive.

We are so hard on ourselves, and so hard on each other. Grace is the medicine for both.

As we move into August, our Sunday services move from our Ardoch building to our Blackford building where we'll gather for prayer from 9:30, then worship and teaching from 10:00.
Having had a love match with Jacob and Rachel last week, we've got a wrestling match from Genesis 32 this week. With Mairi on holiday, Gordon is leading with James and John. Everyone is welcome.

Whether seasoning chips or lighting a room, salt and light are great for dealing with the bland and the dull. Following Jesus was never going to be bland or dull when he told his followers to be salt and light. Those words recorded by Matthew are still Jesus' words for us today. We'll explore what that means this Sunday at 10am in Blackford and at 11:30 in Ardoch and online.

As we open God's Word at 10am this Sunday, it will be great to have it read by the current and the soon-to-be-crowned Blackford Gala Queens. They'll be reading from Matthew 5. All are very welcome to join us for this - and every - service.

We'll start the morning with our prayer gathering at 9:30 and finish with cake to celebrate the start of Blackford Gala Week.

A similar service (but without the queens) will be streamed through our website from our Ardoch building from 11:30.
