Earlier this Year we hosted a Repair Fest in Crieff, thanks to our team of volunteers and all who helped out and attended πŸ₯°πŸ˜

Always great fun to share the love for repair and reuse with our community πŸ₯³

On day 5 of Climate Week we are sharing one of the many fantastic projects of Remake Scotland

Their recent Repair Fest brought the community together to learn new skills, repair treasured belongings and rethink our relationship with waste. Hosted at Strathearn Community Campus, the event demonstrated the power of repair, reuse and community action.

πŸ“Š Project Impact

55 people attended the event.
31 items were brought in for repair.
27 items were successfully repaired, giving them a new lease of life and preventing unnecessary waste.
15 community volunteers contributed their time and expertise.
3 community partners helped make the event a success.

From textile repairs and Dr Bike sessions to tool sharpening, e-waste advice and creative junk modelling, attendees embraced the opportunity to learn, share skills and take practical climate action.

One attendee shared that the event helped them better understand the impact of the textile industry and inspired them to think differently about throw-away culture, while also leaving with a repaired sewing machine and new repair skills.

This Tuesday, our team members Marie-Claire, Derek and Amulree participated in the mending day at MSIP Dundee and the launch event of Circular Tayside πŸ₯³πŸ’š

Among other things we were able to fix the hem on a pair of trousers, have a good go of extending the life of a backpack with Sarah from Social Flock and got to mend a leather jacket for Sandy from ScrapAntics with a beautiful Frida Kahlo patch 😍πŸ₯°

Our team also got to interact with the numerous groups that attended the launch event to discuss how best to promote circular economy in Tayside and Scotland: the main messages centred around collaboration, resource and skill sharing ♻️
