ACT INITIATIVE - CENTRAL
‘Reason to Believe’
Now that school is returning, The ACT Initiative is launching today, in memory of our former friend and volunteer, Beano Niblock, 'Reason to Believe', a short-story competition for children and young people.
In tribute to the literary contribution Beano has made to the Arts, we are calling on children and young people to let their imaginations run wild and write a short story of no more than 500 words. We don't mind if it is hand-written or typed, that's for you to choose, and we will not be checking for spelling mistakes and errors in grammar.
Family members and friends will judge the entries in four categories.
Primary school children from P1 to P3.
Primary school children from P4 to P7.
Post-primary young people from YR8 to YR10.
Post-primary young people from YR11 to YR12.
There will be one winner in each category with a prize of £200 each
And one runner-up in each category with a prize of £50 each.
Now for the practical details.
Each entry should have contact details of a parent/carer/guardian, (email or phone number).
You can enter in two ways. Either by email to [email protected] or by post or hand-delivered to The ACT Initiative, 178-180 Shankill Road, Belfast BT13 2BH.
Closing date is 25th October 2026.
Good luck!
