Unfortunately we have had to cancel tonight's outreach service, due to planned protests across the city.

We regret having to take this decision and hopefully will only affect tonight’s service.

Outreach update ~ Monday 8th June 2026

Thankfully the rain stopped as we set up tonight, and it remained dry throughout the shift. There was a reasonable sized queue waiting in line for hot food, but grew as time went on. Great night at the table as everyone formed an orderly queue and happily joined in the craic and chat.

We were delighted to hear that one of our regular male callers has secured his forever home. He has spent many years on the streets and is buzzing to finally get the key and be able to have a front door he can close at night and go to sleep in a bed. We wish him the best of luck on his new venture.

It was a busy shift but thankfully plenty of food to go round. Only one guy missed out after arriving when we were about to leave. He was directed to the Reaching Out team in Tomb Street.

Lovely selection on offer of honey chilli chicken and chips, spicy sausage pasta and chicken curry with rice, all cooked by Julie, Paula and Deirdre. We had a great selection of sandwiches from Stewart, Donna and Paula's family, as well as our usual snack packs, chocolate trifles, biscuits, water, tea and coffee. Everything went quickly as always and was very gratefully received by all.

Our team tonight were Paula, Paul, Rory, Donna, Stewart, Deirdre and Richard kindly came along to help out with the equipment and lifting the litter. Thanks to them for all their hard work at the table, behind the scenes, their support, compassion and kind hearts.

As always our thanks goes to Raymond, Peggy, and Josie, who work away in the background making up snackpacks for all our teams as well as sandwiches for our Monday table. They are absolute stars.

We were honoured to be invited last week by Carrickfergus Rotary Club to give a talk on our projects aims, objectives and accomplishments. We were very warmly welcomed by the committee, who have taken a keen interest in our group over the past few years. They have previously gifted us equipment and consumables, and subsequently made a very generous monetary donation.

Ann Rainey, one of our most dedicated supporters, was also in attendance. Along with her family and friends, who contribute to us all year round, also made a very substantial monetary contribution.

Both donations will go a long way in helping those hungry, lost and vulnerable on our streets, through our outreach service, as well as providing food parcels to people suffering food poverty.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We can only survive and help others with such kind gestures ❤️

Outreach Update ~ Saturday 6th June 2026

Lovely dry night in town. We arrived to a small crowd gathered, but all that changed very quickly. In no time people came from all directions and it made for a very manic shift.

From start to finish we had shouting, pushing in, and arguments. People were panicking incase the food ran out and the queue jumpers arguments eventually decended into hand to hand fighting towards the end of the shift.

Unfortunately we didn't really have the chance to engage with our callers this evening as we were wary that all hell could break loose anytime. However we were able to feed 70 people tonight and many others were redirected to other outreach services.

For food we had mince beef tacos, hot chicken wraps, sausage pasta, and curry chips from Jill and Carrie. Roy brought filled sodas and chicken pasta. Keith brought us the water, and sandwiches from Roy and James were served with snack packs, tea, coffee and biscuits.

Our volunteers out tonight were Keith, Stephen, Jill, Carrie.Jenny also came down to lend a helping hand, and we definitely needed it. The team were under a lot of pressure trying to keep order and stay safe. Thankfully they remained calm, kept cool heads and helped as many as they could. As soon as all the food was gone they packed up and got off the scene for their own safety.

As far as we know there were no serious injuries. A call was put into the police and they did a drive by as we were packing up. No arrests were made.

Outreach Update ~ Friday 5th June 2026

Nice evening in town with a large queue waiting on us setting up.
We had a few under the influence but all in good form and no queue jumping.

A busy shift, engaging with around 60 people. The team worked really hard together to ensure everyone received some food, drinks and above all a warm welcome and the hand of friendship. Well done on a great nights outreach service by Cathy, Gerry, Darren, Paul and Mark.

It was good to have some chats with our callers this evening. While many were in the best of form, having a laugh and enjoying the craic, that was great to see, some others were feeling down. Among them was a young man recently released from prison. He is struggling very badly with mental health issues. Despite being in contact with the mental health team, he is still waiting to access their services. He was feeling pretty low, but had a good talk with the volunteers. Thankfully the interaction lifted his spirits a little, but we hope he gets the help he so obviously needs very soon🙏

On offer tonight we had pork fillet dinners and beef stew reheated by Cathy, as well as our weekly donation of extra large mixed pizzas, thanks to Darren for collecting. Paul, Mark and Brendan provided the sandwiches that were served with snackpacks, fruit, biscuits, hot and cold drinks and yummy chocolate trifles for dessert. Everyone ate to their hearts content with four lucky enough to receive seconds. Every pick we had was gone by 7.40pm. All was very well received and happy to report full bellies all round.

We extend out thanks to Mooneys Master Butchers 226 Shankill Rd for their weekly donation of beef stew

Pizza Co, Stewartstown Road for their weekly donation of fully loaded, mouth watering pizzas

Suzanne for calling with her weekly donation of fresh fruit

Naomi for cooking the pork fillet dinners

Ta from People's Kitchen Belfast for chocolate trifles, soup and fruit loaves that will be used at the food tables and the foodbank.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support and encouragement, especially at this time of a cost of living crisis. Its so heartwarming that people can still think of others during hard times like this.

Outreach Update ~ Thursday 4th June 2026

We arrived to a very long, but orderly queue tonight. Thankfully it remained dry throughout the shift, always a bonus for us all. As what has become the norm, more new faces were present, and quite a few of them very young, truly worrying.

Great shift tonight. Troublefree, with lots of interacting with our callers. We engaged with 70 people this evening, who were all fed and watered and enjoyed the atmosphere and company around the table.

On the menu we had chicken curry or chilli con carne both with rice, roast chicken, steak pie dinners, with all the trimmings, spaghetti bolognese, chicken and chips with gravy and gravy chips. All the hot food was cooked by Michelle and Tasha. Natalie rustled up the sandwiches, that were added to the snackpacks and distributed by Ian, who also did a great job keeping the place clean and tidy. Karl and Chloe did a sterling job on the hot drinks table, with plenty of biscuits and sweet treats on the side.

Thanks to our wonderful team of volunteers, Natalie, Karl, Michelle, Tasha, Ian, Ezz-Mee and Chloe, who all did great tonight working on the frontline and behind the scenes. A busy shift for them but they took it all in their stride, providing nourishment, comfort and reassurance to many tonight.

We also thank M&S Ballyhackamore Upper Rd for another fantastic donation of food items kindly donated via their Surplus Food Redistribution Program, and Karl for collecting and sorting

Jan who comes by frequently with donations, provided assorted sandwiches, milk, tea and coffee, very greatly appreciated

Thank you to all the businesses and general public that support our tables weekly and monthly, and to all those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our tables have plenty of food and supplies.

Outreach Update ~ Wednesday 3rd June 2026

We had another big crowd waiting for us to arrive and set up tonight. Despite our efforts to keep everyone in an orderly queue, we still had the usual pushing and shoving but apart from that the shift passed off incident free.

It was great to catch up with our callers this evening, regulars and new faces alike. Everyone who calls has a story to tell and our team is always ready and willing to listen.

The service was swift tonight and unfortunately not everyone got a hot meal, but those who missed out were directed to Belfast Homeless Services where a warm welcome awaited.

Handing out our hots, sandwiches and drinks tonight were Shannen, Ann, Gareth, Lisa, Klara and Deirdre ~ amazing work as always and carried out with a smile and a warm heart.

Thank you to Meghann and Maggie Mays for supplying us with lovely burgers tonight, and Zuzu, Carrickfergus for another donation of takeaway food. Our local businesses are fantastic at donating food for our table and we are so grateful for their continued support.

Lisa and Eilish provided tonight’s sandwiches and thank you to Raymond, Peggy and Josie for another round of snackpacks!

Thank you to everyone who supports our work, ensuring our homeless and vulnerable friends have some company and respite from their daily challenges and chaotic lives.

Outreach Update ~ Tuesday 2nd June 2026

It was a mostly dry evening for us, with our full Tuesday team out ~ We had Julie F, Patricia, David, Laura, Frances K, Frances M, Ciara, Tommy, and Chelsea. Each and every one of them played a vital role tonight on what was a full on shift from the word go.

Unfortunately on arrival they found a girl lying unconscious at the side of a building across from where we set up. A call was put through to the ambulance service who instructed out volunteers to locate a defibrillator. While Frances M went to get that, the team began to perform CPR on her. Thankfully she responded after about 40 seconds, though it felt like a lot longer to Ciara who was doing chest compressions.
She became more responsive and was able to tell the team she’d taken a mix of drugs earlier on. Chelsea spent the rest of the shift looking after her until she felt well enough to head off, and we asked the CCTV suite to keep an eye on her.

Another couple of folks were also in need of a listening ear and some signposting. They were both going through a lot and were so appreciative of Julie F being there to chat with. One of them was accompanied to Belfast Homeless Services at the end if the shift, and they will both be followed up on over the next few days.

Tonight on our menu we had a choice of double cheeseburgers from Julie, sausage, potatoes, peas and gravy or double cheeseburgers from Frances and hot dogs from Chelsea. Patricia, Tommy, David, Frances and Ciara all made sandwiches. David filled the flasks, Julie supplied biscuits and sukies, Tommy the milk and Chelsea the water. Thanks everyone!

Thanks to Storehouse North Down for the loaves of bread, buns which Patricia individually bagged, and scones which she added jam and cream too.

All our hot food was gone by 7.15pm! Thankfully we had plenty of surplus sandwiches and rolls tonight for those who didn’t get anything hot.

Thank you to two lovely tourists who approached us before service and asked some questions about what we do. They each donated £20. One of them lost his wife 18 months ago and he said that she always helped the homeless in England ❤️

Big shout out to the full team tonight, they handled everything so well. They all kept calm heads in a stressful situation ~ thank God they were there to help that young girl tonight. It could’ve been a very different outcome without them.

Outreach Update ~ Monday 1st June 2026

Dry and mild in the city centre this evening and a mega busy shift at our table. We literally did not lift our heads with 80 callers attending, some of whom unfortunately missed out on a meal and were directed to the other outreach services provided by Reaching Out and Belfast Homeless Services.

It was pretty manic at times but Paul did a great job on crowd control, and we had a trouble free shift with lots of good chats when things quietened down.

We were approached by a worried mother trying to make contact with her missing son. We passed his details on to People's Kitchen outreach team, the The Welcome Outreach and the CCTV suite to try to ensure he is safe and well 🙏 *** We have just been advised that he has been located and will soon be reunited with his mum ❤️

There was lots of talk about our dear friend Clive who was laid to rest today. It was a beautiful service and a fitting tribute to a real wee character who we all loved and will miss terribly. Thank you so much to People’s Kitchen who helped us organise his funeral; to everyone who attended the service and cremation, or sent messages of condolences; to P.J Brown Funeral Directors Belfast for their kindness and compassion; Deacon Joe for a lovely service; and to our amazing volunteers who never missed a day visiting him in hospital, ensuring he had company right to the very end. Rest easy wee Clive 💙

He would’ve loved tonight’s menu and been spoilt for choice with honey chilli chicken with chips, chicken Kiev with mash, pasta bolognese, and pizza all on offer, and all thanks to Paula, Deirdre, Joan, and Julie. Our veggie caller also loved his jacket potato with beans and cheese. Sandwiches were supplied courtesy of Joan, Julie, and her parents and aunt, and we also had a choice of dessert with either marshmallow and chocolate cookies or cheesecake 😋

Monday thanks go out to the following:

Raymond, Peggy, and Josie, who work away in the background making up snackpacks for all our teams as well as sandwiches for our Monday table.

Fiona and Leslie from Welcome who helped us out tonight with sugar!!! We have lots of callers who have a very sweet tooth so they were all very grateful.

High Rise Activity Centre in Lisburn who gave us a great donation of delicious cookies for tonight, thanks to Paddy for organising.

Our Monday team who coped admirably under great pressure tonight, and still bringing smiles and friendship ~ Paula, Deirdre, Paula, Joan & Julie ~ absolute stars ❤️

“The most beautiful way to start and end the day is with a grateful heart.”

Outreach Update ~ Friday 29th May 2026

Beautiful evening in town. We arrived to a very long, but orderly queue, all patiently waiting for us to set up. The atmosphere was relaxed and the mood was good as we all enjoyed the evening sunshine.

Really busy shift. Again we are still seeing new faces come to us. There were some guys under the influence of drugs, but thankfully they posed no threat or bother to us or anyone. Lots of chats and listening to folk tonight. Quite a few were reminiscing about one of our elderly regulars, Clive who recently passed away. His dry wit, humour and immense knowledge about everything was fondly remembered by many. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and our volunteers.

Thankfully everyone who called with us had sleeping arrangements in place for the night, so no referrals were made. A few were signposted to various other services to help with their queries.

On offer tonight we had sausages, beans and mash, beef stew, curry chips and a selection of extra large mixed pizzas, collected by Darren. We had the sandwiches from Claire, Brendan and Mark, as well as our usual snackpacks, biscuits, fruit and hot and cold drinks. Every bit we had with us was gone in 30 minutes. Thankfully we had enough for everyone, although disappointed some, as there were no seconds.

Big thanks to our Friday team, Cathy, Darren, Claire, Gerry, Brendan and Mark. They worked really hard and barely got their heads lifted. They engaged with 70 callers, ensuring all received food, drinks and a warm welcome.

Thanks also to

Pizza Co, Stewartstown Road for another beautiful selection of large, mixed topping pizzas. Their continued support with donations every week is so greatly appreciated

Mooneys Master Butchers 226 Shankill Rd, also for their continued support, with a fabulous donation of beef stew each week

Naomi who cooked some of tonight's hot meals

Suzanne who calls each Friday with a lovely selection of mixed fruit, again very greatly appreciated

And to the lovely lady who called to the table with 2 large boxes of assorted biscuits.

Thanks to all who supported our outreach service tonight. With your help we were able to fill 70 hungry bellies and give some comfort, even for a little while to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
