This week, local neighbourhood officers took part in Impact training, delivered in partnership with Alternatives alongside local young people.

The session gave officers valuable insight into the challenges faced by young people in the community while also increasing awareness of current community safety issues.

This session supported our ongoing commitment to building safe, confident and engaged communities through positive partnership working and youth engagement.

Thank you Belfast PCSP for supporting police attendance and to Alternatives for involving us in this important initiative.

🌟 May has been a busy and productive month for BUILD, with significant progress being made across a range of community initiatives and partnerships.

🧼Working alongside Impact Training, we took part in a Shankill-wide graffiti removal project, tackling areas of blight and helping to showcase the true potential of our community spaces.

🎥We were also privileged to participate in a major clean-up at Forthriver Bridge alongisde Glencairn Community Project and Belfast Hills. The project that attracted national attention and will feature in an upcoming documentary presented by Stacey Dooley. It was a fantastic opportunity to highlight both the challenges and the positive work taking place within our communities.

💡May also saw important strategic planning taking place. The Local Action Group came together for a dedicated planning day facilitated by Carlin Planning, focusing on future growth, priorities, and mapping out the implementation of key actions.

🏡Similarly, Shankill Housing and Enterprise held a planning session to prepare for the next phase of investment and development opportunities that will benefit the area.

🧑‍⚖️Through the Pivotal Programme, BUILD staff have also had the opportunity to engage directly with government representatives and raise awareness.

⚒️BUIlD hosted a further information workshop following the Plan to Grow Launch with young people at Impact Training ensuring our youth get a voice.

A positive and productive planning session yesterday with the Greater Shankill Plan to Grow Local Area Group (LAG).

The session included important context setting around the Greater Shankill Neighbourhood Renewal Plan, alongside valuable input from Belfast City Council’s Area-Based Planning team.

We also had the opportunity to strategise around the implementation needed to take forward the Plan to Grow, with a particular focus on our Test and Learn approach and identifying key action steps to progress work with key partners moving forward.

The session concluded with an update from GT3 Architects, who have been commissioned through the Department for Communities (DfC) to explore development options for three sites across the Greater Shankill area.

A big thank you to Carlin Planning Limited for facilitating such a constructive and engaging session. Looking forward to building on the momentum and continuing the collaborative work ahead.
