Alternatives Restorative Justice is a Government-accredited community-based Restorative Justice project tackling antisocial behaviour, community conflict and community safety issues in Northern Ireland Northern Ireland Alternatives (NIA) is a government accredited restorative justice programme that aims to promote and develop non-violent community responses to the issues of low-level crime and ant

i-social behaviour in areas across Northern Ireland. Give & Take: Start is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) through Department of Employment and Learning (DEL). It is a partnership programme between Include Youth and Northern Ireland Alternatives.

Last week Carla (ABC Alternatives) and Brian (South Belfast Alternatives) from our 12th Man Programme, were kindly invited by the PSNI’s Football Lead, Inspector McCullough to deliver some Restorative Training and to continue building our Relationship with the PSNI’s Football officers as part of their ongoing CPD.
Officers representing all Irish League Clubs were in attendance on the day.
It was great to meet Gary McAllister from the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs who also spoke so well during his presentation.

It was great getting caught up with some old groups and participants from South Belfast Strive this week.
We spent time reflecting on how far everyone has come, discussing the obstacles they're facing now, and looking ahead at what the future may bring.

Our Greater Shankill Youth Development Group had a fantastic day in Londonderry yesterday as part of the Maiden City Festival.

The visit gave our young leaders the opportunity to explore how the city uses arts, culture and heritage to engage young people and create positive opportunities within the community.

A huge thank you to Brian, James and Georgina at New Gate Arts for welcoming us and sharing the fantastic work they do. New Gate is a brilliant example of how arts and culture can be used to engage young people, particularly at key times throughout the year. We heard about their work with young people involved in bands and bonfire building, creating positive opportunities and helping to keep young people engaged and away from antisocial behaviour.

We also had the opportunity to visit the Siege Museum and take in the historical re-enactments at the Cathedral, giving the group a chance to learn more about the city's history, culture and traditions.

It was also great to have two of our neighbourhood officers join us for the day. This provided a really valuable opportunity for our young leaders to build relationships with local police officers in a relaxed and positive environment.

A great day of learning, relationship-building and new ideas and plenty for our young leaders to take back to the Greater Shankill! đź‘Ź

North Belfast Alternatives Restorative Justice Strive programme young people from Blackmountain Action Group having a brilliant day at Let's Go Hydro enhancing their and team building skills.

Young people will now planning for their celebration event at the end of the month to finish off their 6 month intensive programme.
