🧵 Three weeks. New skills. Growing confidence. Something made with their own hands.
Yesterday marked the final session of our Threads of Strength workshop, part of IWP’s Steps Forward™ Programme for women in Luton.
Across three weeks, women have had the opportunity to learn and practise sewing skills in a supportive, relaxed environment, culminating in creating their own bags.
But Threads of Strength is about more than sewing.
Creativity provides a different route into learning. It gives women space to try something new, build confidence, connect with others and experience the sense of achievement that comes from seeing “I made this”, “I’ve met other women”, at the end of the process.
For some women, taking the next step does not begin with a qualification or a job application. It begins with confidence, connection and discovering what they are capable of.
That is why creative learning has a place within Steps Forward™.
We are incredibly proud of what the women created, both the bags you can see here and the confidence that cannot always be captured in a photograph. 🤍
