Youth provision can be life-changing, giving young people the tools they need to be successful in adulthood. 👩‍🎓

This week we’re recognising everyone who works in the youth sector in East Suffolk, whether voluntary or paid.

Youth provision can be anything from full-time paid youth workers to individual youth activities such as football events. ⚽️

Many youth providers are also calling out for volunteers to keep their services thriving; can you give some time to help out? 🫂

We support young people to have a voice in different ways, including facilitating our East Suffolk Youth Council. 👩‍⚖️

💙✨ Happy International Day of the Girl! ✨💙

Today we’re celebrating the incredible girls in Guiding — the ones who dive into every challenge with courage, creativity, and just the right amount of chaos. 🙌

✨ To our leaders (women — and the brave men who’ve learned that glitter is permanent, sequins multiply when unattended, and teenage girls can out-plan an army general): thank you for creating spaces where girls can build dens, flip pancakes in fields, launch glitter into orbit, and discover their own voices — while you quietly wonder if you’ll ever get sequins out of your shoes. 👟✨

🤰 To our parents and carers (mums, dads, grandparents, and everyone in between): thank you for the lifts in sideways rain, the last-minute neckerchief rescues, and the patience when “just a small camp bag” somehow turns into luggage big enough for a world tour. 🎒😂

👧 And to our girls: today is your day. You inspire us with your kindness, bravery, belly laughs and unstoppable energy. When girls get the chance to shine, they don’t just light up the room — they light up the whole world. 🌍💡

🌏 Here’s to the girls, the leaders, and the families who cheer them on. Together you make Guiding the brilliant, unforgettable adventure it is. Your smiles are always our greatest reward (well… and maybe the biscuits too). 🥰🍪

We are looking forward to joining thousands of Girlguiding members from across Suffolk and Norfolk on Sunday!

📌 Important Notice 📌

Banham Zoo will be closed to the public on Sunday 12th October, as we welcome around 4,000 Girl Guides from across the East region for a special day of wildlife, adventure and celebration. 💚

While we understand this closure may cause some inconvenience, it’s a wonderful opportunity for us to host an inspiring event that brings thousands of young people together to connect with animals and nature - sparking curiosity, building friendships and nurturing a lifelong love for wildlife. 🌿

Community engagement is at the heart of what we do and we’re proud to support this incredible gathering, which also helps raise funds for charitable initiatives and supports our local Girl Guides community.

The zoo will remain open as usual on Saturday 11th and Monday 13th October.

On , we’re shining a light on what makes girls feel good.

In the recently released 2025 Girls’ Attitudes Survey, girls told us:
✨ 54% feel positive when spending time with friends
✨ 34% feel positive doing a hobby or activity they enjoy
✨ 80% say being outdoors and in nature helps them feel happy
✨ 72% want more opportunities to spend time in nature
