The James Paget has maintained its Veteran Aware status after an annual review of the services provided by our hospital Trust.
NHS Veteran Aware is an accreditation programme designed to support providers to improve healthcare access and outcomes for the Armed Forces community.
The accreditation was first awarded to the James Paget University Hospital in 2021 and is annually reviewed, with three-yearly accreditation.
The hospital has an Armed Forces Support Service and promotes a variety of events for veterans – including our popular Veterans Coffee Morning – as well as providing support to veterans during hospital stays and in the community.
For more information about the service please visit; https://www.jpaget.nhs.uk/patients-visitors/armed-forces-support-service/

At the RBL Suffolk County Conference, the Beccles Branch was awarded the Treasurers Cup for the highest member per capita donation to the County Benevolent Fund. A total of £5,950 was donated in 2024-25 to directly support grants for beneficiaries in the NR34 postcode area. We could not do this without your help. Every penny spent in our shop in Smallgate helps us to achieve welfare giving. Thank You.

Our Statement in response to President Trump's comments:

The service and sacrifice of British personnel in Afghanistan cannot be called into question, and we condemn any comments that undermine their extraordinary contribution. 457 British personnel lost their lives in Afghanistan and thousands more and their families now live with the lifelong physical and mental impact from service in that conflict.

The dedication and sacrifices of the men and women in the British Armed Forces from the UK, Commonwealth, and beyond, to protect our freedoms and support our allies deserves our deep and ongoing respect and gratitude.

Our nation’s support for our Armed Forces is never in doubt. The Royal British Legion through our ongoing work to recognise, remember, and support the Armed Forces community, ensures that their unique contribution is not forgotten. This recognition is shared across communities, cultures, and faiths.

Return of the James Paget Veterans Coffee Morning - Wed 21 Jan

Our next Veterans Coffee Morning will be held on Wednesday, 21 January, between 11am and 2pm, and anyone who has served with any branch of our armed forces is welcome to attend.
Dates for the rest of 2026 have also been confirmed – please see the poster here for more information – with March 18 the next date after the meeting on Wednesday.
As always, these Coffee Mornings will be held in the Louise Hamilton Centre, on our hospital site, and are open to anyone who has served.
The events give you the opportunity to speak to our Armed Forces Support Officer, other veterans and organisations that can provide support, in a friendly and informal setting.
A light buffet lunch is served.
You can find out more about our Armed Forces Service work, and some of the support available, on our website here: https://www.jpaget.nhs.uk/patients-visitors/armed-forces-support-service/
