LOST RAY-BAN SUNGLASSES APPEAL
On Sunday the Brighter Bebington team were out and about in Bebington Village removing the winter Poyanthus and replacing them with the wonderfully colourful non stop Begonias. More about this soon, but one of the team lost her Ray-Ban sunglasses whilst planting. If you have found them, would you be kind enough to contact us via the Brighter Bebington page or alternatively, drop them into our chums in the Rose & Crown.
Thank you so much.

A big thank you to Ged from Dormex Containers Limited who kindly donated a large funnel that will make filling the large Brighter Bebington planters around Bebington much easier.
Greatly appreciated Ged šŸ‘šŸ‘

The Brighter Bebington team had a very special guest visit our new Community gardens at the front of Bebington Civic Centre recently in the shape of the Mayor of Wirral, Brian Kenny and his lovely wife Helen. The Mayor was coming to the end of his term as Mayor of Wirral and had expressed an interest in seeing what progress Brighter Bebington had made with the gardens, so we arranged a tour around the gardens along with other projects that the team had put into place over recent years, including the K6 Red telephone box incorporating a lifesaving defibrillator machine.

We also showed him the seven Cherry Blossom trees that were planted for the Queen’s Green Canopy scheme in celebration of her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and more recently, the flagpole that we placed to commemorate King Charles Coronation.

Of course we just had to show them the Civic Centre Christmas tree. the Jewel in the Crown of all the wonderful Christmas trees that we have planted throughout Bebington and Spital over recent years, along with the many magnificent and colourful floral planters, which really do keep Bebington Brighter through the year. ( We thought it was a bit early to show them the Christmas lights that Brighter Bebington put up each year, although there are only 218 sleeps!)

The Mayor & the Mayoress were just in time to catch the tail end of this year’s magnificent display of Tete a Tete daffodils. Each year we have been adding more and more daffodils to the Civic Centre area and this year we were overwhelmed with all the lovely comments that we’ve received by both passers-by and on social media.

James & Isla, the Landlord and Landlady of the Rose & Crown kindly made the pub available to us and we finished off the tour with refreshments and sandwiches followed by a wonderful speech from the Mayor thanking the Brighter Bebington team for the dedication shown to Bebington over the last 34 years. We were also really chuffed that he took time to congratulate us on our recent King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Thank you for your time and interest Brian & Helen.

Finally,we are planning an official opening ceremony and family event at the beginning of August so keep your eyes on the Brighter Bebington page and other social media.

We had a lovely day out in the woods yesterday and the weather was kind too at the Friends of Storeton woods event on Bank holiday Monday. So nice to hear so many kind words of appeciation by the lovely people who stopped by for a chat with some of the Brighter Bebington team. Lots of great comments about our new Community garden that we're still working on in front of Bebington Civic Centre. Thank you everybody, your comments are really appreciated.

My dear old Dad used to take us into Mayer Park when we were nippers and we loved the old pond near Pennant House and of course the Rose Garden. The pond is no more, but the Rose Garden is, but sadly has fallen into disrepair over recent years. Our chums in the Friends of Mayer Park volunteer group are currently involved in restoring it to its former glory but need some help.
Can you spare some time and donations to help with their plans please?

They have set up a Crowd Funder to help with their cause so we are trying to help them to give an extra push towards their target by raising more awareness to their worthwhile project.

Here's where you can help them and remember, every penny helps them get nearer to their target. Just click on the link below which will take you to their Go Fund Me page.

Thank you everybody.

Today is the 23rd of April which is St.George’s Day, the patron saint of England.
As usual, the Brighter Bebington team have placed St.George’s flags on the Community Christmas tree enclosures at Spital Cross Roads, Teehey Lane, Higher Bebington and the tree enclosure in front of Bebington Civic Centre. They look really quite striking on this beautiful sunny day against the wonderful clear blue skies.

Here's an atmospheric photo of Town Lane, Higher Bebington that I took a few years ago but never got around to posting for some reason, but definitely worth an outing. No filters, no Ai needed, just nature at its best.
(I know they use a capital I but it annoys me because it looks like AL who may be Happy Al or not šŸ˜‚)
When you walk through a storm etc.
