🎃👻 INTRODUCING OUR NEW VOLUNTEERS!

We’ve had a few new faces join the Love Bebington family recently and we thought today would be the perfect opportunity to introduce them!

Please give a warm welcome to Fred, Mike and Jason! ❤️

Three lovely, local, salt-of-the-earth lads who’ve been dying to make a difference in their community! 💀

🌸 FRED – A long-time resident of Elm Street (not sure if this is Higher Bebington or Lower Bebington). He’s usually a bit of a nightmare but he’s an absolute dream when it comes to planting! Particularly good with flower beds. We’ve been leaving him to do the raking up. 

🎃 MIKE – A very quiet, hardworking chap. Doesn’t say much but you can’t fault his dedication. Never misses a volunteer session, no matter how many times we tell him to go home. He’s especially enthusiastic about Halloween for some reason...

🌳 JASON – Recently relocated from Crystal Lake. A real outdoorsy type who loves camping, gardening and looking after our green spaces. He’s brilliant at slashing back the overgrowth, although we’ve had to have a quiet word with him about his choice of gardening tools.

They’ve settled in wonderfully, although we’ve noticed some of our volunteers leaving early from our sessions recently. Strange, that. 🤔

Anyway, if you see the lads out and about tending our planters, be sure to give them a wave!

They’re completely harmless...probably.

Today, our volunteers had the honour of attending a civic reception at Wallasey Town Hall, hosted by the Mayor of Wirral, in recognition of our nomination and shortlisting for The King's Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS)! 🎉

It was a lovely afternoon and wonderful to see Wirral Council recognising the work Love Bebington and our volunteers have been doing across the borough for the past four and a half years! ❤️

A huge thank you to the Merseyside Lieutenancy, particularly Peter Oliver OBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, Sue Higginson OBE DL, Elaine Kinsella DL and Helen Tanzey, for their wonderful support, encouragement and kind words throughout the process. We're incredibly grateful to you all!

Our thanks also go to everyone involved in organising today's reception and making our volunteers feel welcome.

As we've always said, we don't do what we do for awards or recognition. The greatest reward is seeing the positive difference our work makes to people's lives, bringing our community together and knowing that we've helped brighten someone's day. ❤️

Nevertheless, to have our efforts recognised in this way is incredibly special. It's an honour in itself simply to have been nominated and shortlisted, regardless of the outcome!

Most importantly, a massive thank you to our incredible volunteers, local business sponsors and wonderful supporters. Everything we've achieved over the past four and a half years has been made possible by your kindness, generosity and hard work.

We're incredibly proud of our Love Bebington family, and whatever happens next, we'll keep on doing what we love — making our communities even better places for us all to live! ❤️

We're delighted to unveil our brand-new Local History Information Boards at Spital Station! 🎉🏛️

Our volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes to bring these boards to life, celebrating the fascinating history, landmarks and heritage of Spital, Poulton Lancelyn and the surrounding area.

We've put a great deal of time and care into researching the information, aiming to make it as accurate and informative as possible while capturing as many of our area's wonderful historical connections as we could.

From Spital's origins and its connections to the Domesday Book, to its links with C. S. Lewis and some of the famous faces associated with Spital and Bebington, there's plenty to discover!

We're also delighted to feature some of the wonderful local landmarks, businesses and organisations that form part of our area's story, including:

📚❤️ WOW, SPITAL, POULTON LANCELYN & BEBINGTON… WE ASKED AND YOU ANSWERED! 🎉

Just 24 hours after announcing our new Spital Station Community Library, our bookcase is already almost completely full of fantastic books! 📖😍

We've been absolutely blown away by the response from our wonderful community. Thank you SO much to everyone who's taken the time to donate books and help get this lovely little project off to such an incredible start!

There's still a tiny bit of room for a few more books, but we'd kindly ask that if the bookcase is full, please don't leave any additional books at the station. We want to make sure Spital Merseyrail Station remains safe, tidy and welcoming for everyone. ❤️

And we're only just getting started! 👀

We've been working incredibly hard behind the scenes on some exciting new projects, and we can't wait to share what we've got planned for our local stations and communities. More announcements coming very soon! 🚉🌸🎨

📚🚉 A NEW CHAPTER FOR SPITAL STATION! ❤️

We're delighted to unveil our brand-new Spital Station Community Library! 🎉

Some of our wonderful volunteers got together today to celebrate its installation, and we're so excited to finally share it with everyone!

The library is completely free to use and aims to encourage reading, bring our community together and make travelling by train that little bit more enjoyable.

📖 So, how does it work?

It's simple! Borrow a book and return it when you've finished, OR take one home and leave another for somebody else to enjoy.

We've already received some lovely donations from the community, but we'd love a few more books to help build our collection!

We kindly ask that donations are limited to clean, good-quality books that others would enjoy. If the bookcase is full, please don't leave additional books at the station, as we want to keep the area safe, tidy and welcoming for everyone. ❤️

🎨 And there's more to come! We'll soon be adding some beautiful new signage and artwork to the library, celebrating our local literary history and landmarks around Spital and Bebington.

Through our Love Our Railways initiative, we're working to make our stations more welcoming, celebrate our communities and encourage greener journeys across our region. 🌱🚆

We had another fantastic session at the Wirral Grammar School for Boys Community Garden, with students, staff and Love Bebington volunteers all getting stuck in as we move ever closer to completing this very special project! 💚

This session was a real team effort. Students joined us for a big group painting session, helping to paint the brand-new fencing, sleepers and trellis, while we also added another 20 plants to the garden. 🌱🌸

There was plenty of weeding, path clearing and tidying too, and it’s brilliant to see how much the garden has changed through the hard work of all the students who have been involved throughout the project. Whether it’s been painting, planting, clearing, fundraising or helping with the restoration, they’ve each played a part in bringing the garden back to life. 👏

A huge well done to the school’s MINDS team and Mrs Smith, who have been at the heart of the project and have helped get so many of the students involved. It’s been fantastic working alongside such an enthusiastic group of young people and seeing them take real pride in creating a space for their school community. 💚

📻 The project was also featured on BBC Merseyside last week, giving us a brilliant opportunity to share the story of the garden and all the work that has gone into it. A special well done to Henry Jones, who represented the project brilliantly on air and helped highlight the fantastic work being done by the students, staff, volunteers and everyone involved. 🎙️👏

We’re nearly there! There are still a few final jobs to complete, including installing the artwork and adding those all-important finishing touches. Then we’ll be getting everyone together for a grand opening very soon! 🎉🌿

A massive thank you and well done to every student, member of staff and volunteer who has played a part so far. This garden really has been a team effort, and we can’t wait to celebrate the finished result with you all! 💚
