We are so grateful to the members of Gothic Lodge Lodge in Chester, who have raised an incredible Β£1,825!

Inspired by the care teams at Clatterbridge have given, they organised an event and fundraising drive that has made a real difference.

On Saturday, our volunteers joined the wonderful Rock Choir at Chester Market, and on Sunday they were out with the Widnes Vikings. Between them, they helped raise just over Β£1,400 for local people living with cancer!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped to donate, to New Chester Market, Rock Choir and Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club for having us, and most of all to our incredible volunteers who gave their time to make it happen. πŸ’š

Could you be part of the next one? We are always looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help at events and collections across Cheshire and Merseyside. If you would like to get involved with Team Clatterbridge, visit clatterbridgecharity.org/support-us/volunteer-opportunities/ πŸ”—

Did you know Radio Clatterbridge has been on air since 1951? That makes it the UK's oldest hospital radio station, and this year it turns 75!

From its early days playing records for patients at Clatterbridge General Hospital, to broadcasting 24/7 across the Health Park and The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool today.

Congratulations to every volunteer, presenter and supporter who has made it what it is. 75 years strong.

Imagine going through cancer treatment and having the choice of sitting with others for company, or having a quiet, private space when you need it most.

That is exactly what your support is helping us create at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre's Halton Clinic. πŸ’š

Our Halton Redevelopment Appeal will fund new comfortable treatment chairs, flexible bays designed around patient needs, and upgraded research facilities that will enable clinical trials of new treatments to be offered in Halton.

Ward Manager Laura Selby, who sees the difference your support makes every single day, knows what this will mean:

πŸ—£οΈ "It is going to be brilliant for patients and for staff as it will increase our treatment capacity and enable us to offer more complex and combination therapies. We are so grateful to the Charity for launching this appeal to fund the work and thanks to everyone who is supporting the fundraising."

Every donation, large or small, brings this closer to reality.

When Cai was 12 years old, their mum Bethan was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour. Watching their dad raise money through a sponsored bike ride planted a seed.

Now Cai is giving back in their own way by taking on the Tough Mudder Challenge in Scotland πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

πŸ—£οΈ "The brilliant people there deserve every bit of support to continue helping families facing similar hardships." πŸ’š

We want to say a huge thank you to the incredible WHW4Cancer team, who have raised a phenomenal Β£10,500 to support the Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) unit at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. πŸ‘

The inspiring group of nine from Haydock took on the legendary West Highland Way and they did it all to support Ryan, the grandson of one of their friends, who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. πŸ’š

On top of the Β£5,500 raised by the walkers, Ryan’s Great Aunt, who works at the St Helens Card Factory store, nominated Clatterbridge Cancer Charity for corporate match-funding. Thanks to her nomination, The cardfactoryfoundation generously donated an additional Β£5,000!

Alan Clark, who led the challenge on behalf of WHW4Cancer, told us:

"We are over the moon that The Cardfactory Foundation have donated Β£5,000 on top of the Β£5,500 raised by the lads. Clatterbridge and the Teenage Young Adult Unit gave amazing support to Ryan right from first diagnosis. All the team can't thank the staff at Clatterbridge enough for their dedication and care."

If you work for an organisation that offers this kind of support, we would love to hear from you! πŸ‘‡

"I would urge everyone to back this appeal if they can and help the staff provide brilliant treatment in upgraded facilities."

Vicki Trivass has been a patient at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Halton for 13 years, after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She has seen this place grow. She has watched the staff develop.

And she knows, more than most, what it means to be treated close to home. πŸ’–

"The place is keeping people alive," she told us. "It is so much better if they can be treated locally."

We are raising Β£250,000 to redevelop the centre. A gift of Β£40 from you today brings us one step closer. πŸ‘‡
