We need you!
Our community transport service helps to keep our North Devon community connected, healthy and able to reach essential medical, social or practical appointments such as getting their food shopping or accessing the hospital. Which is why we're looking to you for help!
🚗 At Age Well North Devon, we're in need of additional friendly, reliable volunteer drivers and we can work around you! 🙌
👩‍⚕️ WORK SHIFTS?
Whether you work in healthcare, retail, hospitality or another shift-based role, we understand your days off can change. We can work around your availability!
🚓🚒🎖️ RETIRED POLICE, FIRE SERVICE, HEALTHCARE WORKER OR ARMED FORCES?
You've spent your career helping others. Why not continue making a difference in your community, but this time entirely on your terms?
💙 RECEIVING UNIVERSAL CREDIT OR OTHER BENEFITS?
You can still volunteer! We pay expenses such as fuel, parking etc so you are not out of pocket and it shouldn't affect your benefits.
👥 EVERYONE - if you can drive and you have time, you can make a huge difference by volunteering to take a person to a vital appointment. If you don't drive you can still help us by sharing this post with drivers who may be able to support those with important journeys.

Benefits can be confusing and with winter coming and food and fuel prices rising, it’s important to know what you may be entitled to. Out Help Desk and Benefits Service can support older people with information and benefit applications, including areas such as:

Keeping on top of household jobs can become a little harder — and that’s where we can help.
Our Housekeeping Service can assist with everyday tasks including:
✨ Cleaning and tidying
🛏️ Changing beds
👕 Washing and ironing
🍳 Cooking
💡 Changing lightbulbs and batteries
🗑️ Help with bins
🧹 Other agreed household jobs
Our housekeepers are experienced, referenced and enhanced DBS checked.

👏❤️ This morning we celebrate and thank our incredible volunteers by joining with them at our Autumn volunteer event which took place at the Pannier cafe Barnstaple. We're so thankful to each and every one of them for donating their time to help our services which support North Devon's 60+ community. They are the face and/or voice of Age Well including taking calls to arrange transport to medical, practical and social appointments, befriending people so they don't feel lonely or isolated, supporting those with shopping needs or accessing benefits they weren't aware they were entitled to. They signpost all manner of help requests and even spend time with people so their partners can take a much needed break. You are selfless, incredible people and we are so grateful you choose to volunteer with us and for those in beautiful North Devon, who really need extra support with that personal touch. 🙏✨🏆

❤️ 80 Christmas Hampers for 80 Older People in North Devon! ❤️

Christmas is a time for giving, but sadly, some people in our community may not receive a single gift this year. At Age Well, we want to change that!

🌟 This Christmas we're hoping to put together 80 lovely Christmas hampers to bring a little joy, comfort and a smile to people across North Devon who might otherwise go without. But we need YOUR help! ❤️

🛒 We are requesting donations of some of the most requested items for these hampers 🛒

🥧 Mince pies
🎄 Small Christmas puddings
🍑 Tins of peaches
🍮 Tins of custard
🥣 Tins of chicken soup
🍪 Chocolate biscuits

🛻 We're putting out a friendly call to our North Devon community.
Demand for our community transport service continues to grow, and we really need a few more volunteer drivers who could offer us a little regular time each week.
Perhaps you're retired and still active, an ex-service person, have worked in the emergency services or on the frontline, work shifts, work part-time, or simply have some spare time and would like to put it to really good use.
You don't need a particular background. You just need to be a kind person, a confident driver and happy to help.
Our volunteer drivers use their own cars to help older and vulnerable people get to medical appointments, shopping, social activities and other important journeys.
For some of the people we support, that journey is about much more than getting from A to B. It can help them stay independent, connected to their community and less isolated.
We're particularly keen to hear from people who might be able to manage more than one journey a week, but please don't let that put you off getting in touch. We'd much rather have a chat and see what might work for you.
A few hours of your time could make an enormous difference to somebody else's week.
Training and support are provided, along with out-of-pocket / fuel expenses.
