Earlier this week I attended ‘s Annual Residents’ Meeting at the Guildhall, where The Woodshed Project was awarded its first ever grant of £3,000.

Thank you so much to Barnstaple Town Council for this support. It will make a real difference to the project and help fund our pilot workshop, where people who have faced challenges such as homelessness, addiction, poor mental health, or involvement with the criminal justice system will be able to learn woodworking in a supportive environment.

A really encouraging milestone for the project. Watch this space!

Just a quick update…

I’m very grateful that Barnstaple Town Council has awarded £3,000 to support the first pilot of The Woodshed Project.

This funding will enable us to run an 8-week pilot workshop, testing the model and providing a structured, supportive woodworking environment for people rebuilding their lives after experiences such as homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, or involvement with the criminal justice system.

It’s an encouraging early step, and I’m grateful to Barnstaple Town Council for their support.

Just a little update…

Last week, after several months of work on the constitution, business plan, and developing policies and procedures, I finally submitted an application to the Charity Commission to register Pod Community Project as a charity.

Its first initiative, The Woodshed Project, will be a design-led woodworking workshop supporting individuals affected by multiple disadvantage, including homelessness, addiction, poor mental health, and offending history.

This is the first step of many, and I’m grateful to everyone who has encouraged and supported the vision so far.

Watch this space.

Welcome to The Woodshed Project

The Woodshed Project is a design-led woodworking and creative workshop currently being developed in North Devon. The project is being created to offer supported, purposeful activity in a safe and structured environment, where people can build practical skills, confidence, routine, and connection.

The Woodshed Project is a supported programme rather than an open social club or hobbyist workshop. When operational, places will be limited and offered through referral or assessment, to ensure the right level of support for those involved.

The project is faith-based and Christian in ethos, shaped by values of compassion, dignity, and care for each person. Participation is open to people of all backgrounds, and no one is expected to share or hold particular beliefs.

This page shares the development of The Woodshed Project, including funding milestones, pilot activity, events, and learning as the project becomes established.
