Barnsley Hospice is a charity (reg number 700586) providing specialist palliative and end of life care for people living with a life-limiting illness and those close to them. Our main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for patients with a life limiting diseases, whilst supporting their families, during periods of illness and at the end of life. As a specialist care provider,

the range of skills we offer include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and bereavement support. We are a charity - our care is free for patients but not free to provide. We are funded through an NHS grant, plus the generous donations and fundraising efforts of our community and supporters. Please note, we care for patients at home, in the community and at the hospice. We care for patients with all life-limiting illnesses - not just cancer. And, we support patients' families and those close to them too.

One incredible team, a whole lot of orange and an incredible outcome! 🧡🏃‍♂️

Our incredible Barnsley 10K runners didn't just run 10k, but they help raised an amazing £23,800 in support of Barnsley Hospice. Every mile, every donation and every person cheering from the streets helped make that total possible.

Thank you to everyone who ran for us, sponsored a runner or supported the team on the day. You made it one to remember. 🧡

Our doctors are specialists in palliative medicine, providing expert care for people living with life-limiting illnesses. 🧡

Working alongside our nurses and wider multidisciplinary team, they help manage complex symptoms such as pain, breathlessness, nausea and fatigue. They also take the time to listen, answer questions and support patients and families in making informed decisions about their care.

Their role is not only about treating symptoms, it's about understanding each person's individual needs and helping them achieve the best possible quality of life.

Our Inpatient Unit provides:
🧡 Specialist palliative and end of life care
🧡 Expert symptom management and pain control
🧡 24-hour nursing and medical care
🧡 Emotional support for patients and families
🧡 Care tailored to individual needs and wishes

Access to our Inpatient Unit is by referral. Referrals can be made by GPs, hospital teams and healthcare professionals involved in a patient's care.

Appointments are now OPEN for our October Make a Will Month! ✍️

What an incredible fundraiser from the Dickinson Family! 💙☕🍰

They recently held a Coffee Morning and Bake Sale in support of Barnsley Hospice and raised an amazing £2,555.85!

Their support doesn’t stop there either. Over the last few years, the family have continued to get behind the Hospice in all sorts of ways, including taking part in the Barnsley 10K and even completing skydives! 🏃🪂

We’re so grateful for their continued support and for everything they’ve done to help us care for local people and their families.

Over the past 12 months, the Rock Choir team have been organising and taking on fundraisers to support Barnsley Hospice and other hospices across South Yorkshire.

Through Strictly sweepstakes, lotteries and craft sales, the choir has raised an amazing £1085 to support our vital care and services.

When visiting to deliver the money, they were also able to spend some time in The Orangery with our CHAT group, and see how their donations make an impact.

They shared: "It was wonderful to meet the dedicated staff and some of the patients, and to see first-hand the fantastic facilities, activities and support that our fundraising helps to make possible. It really brought home just how much of a difference our efforts can make."
