Over the last few months, Sadie, one of our fantastic Distraction volunteers, has been working on something really important β€” our new website

https://www.distractioncommunity.co.uk

It has been great working alongside Sadie as she took time to understand what Distraction is about, listened to our trustees and to me about what we are trying to achieve, and then turned those ideas into something that represents us.

The result is bright, colourful and, most importantly, gives people a better understanding of who we are and the work we are doing across Banbury.

The exciting thing about work is that things are always developing. Even as the website is launched, new opportunities are already coming our way, so we know it will continue to grow and change. A calendar of activities and events will also be added shortly.

A huge thank you to Sadie for her time, creativity and commitment. Volunteers are such an important part of what we do at Distraction, and this is a brilliant example of the difference they can make.

Please take a look and find out more about Distraction Community & Youth Project.

If you like a positive experience of developing a website or other social media projects please get in touch with Sadie Swainson

Loneliness is on the rise across all age groups, but the startling statistic comes from young men. New statistic show that 18-29 year old men spend 6.5 hours alone every day.

Loneliness is severely detrimental to mental health, contributing to feelings of depression and anxiety.

If you're worried about yours or someone else's loneliness, Oxfordshire Mind's information line can help provide advice and guidance. πŸ“ž 01865 247 788

Just read this, insightful to how we engage with children and young people would recommend this as chapters are short but it makes you compare your experience of being a child or teenager and today's experience - final thoughts in the book ' The essential, the human, happens in moments of attention. In trusted buildings and safe spaces, clubs and parishes. In the little tasks we do together."
