It’s CTWeek26!............
This week, we’re joining Community Transport Organisations across the UK to celebrate the contribution we all make to communities.

This year’s theme is Driving Communities Forward - recognising everyone who plays a part in helping people to stay connected, independent and involved in their communities.

Whether it's our volunteer car scheme providing individual journeys to healthcare appointments, local groups getting out and about or our accessible minibuses providing door to door outings, we are proud to be providing support in the northern Derbyshire Dales and Hope Valley.

New volunteers are very welcome at Book End on Bridge Street in Bakewell - a lovely secondhand charity book shop raising funds for Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport
We are open 7 days a week with morning and afternoon shifts available, it's very flexible with no regular commitment required and weekend help would be particularly appreciated.

At BECT not only do we welcome donations of books but we can also raise valuable funds from your old and unwanted items through our recycling projects - an autumn declutter is a great way to support your local transport charity. We are pleased to receive donations of:
• Books – any condition and age
• Inkjet printer cartridges
• Jewellery and watches – even if they are broken
• UK and foreign coins and banknotes
• Stamps – UK & foreign, old & current
• Mobile Phones & Ipads
• Digital and film cameras
• Video cameras and Satnavs
• Binoculars
• Games Consoles
• MP3 players
Donations can be taken to our depot at Great Longstone Business Park and small quantities can also be left at our secondhand book shop – Book End on Bridge Street, Bakewell.

Kelham Island Museum makes an interesting day out this autumn, or perhaps a garden centre and there's some great destinations for shopping or a lunchtime treat.

If you haven't travelled before, it's very simple to register and book, not only is it a good way to get out and about but it's also a nice opportunity to meet people. Give it a try!

This year’s Remember a Charity Week is from 7th September and is an opportunity to take a moment to acknowledge that leaving a gift in your will makes a long lasting impact in your memory.
As a small local charity, we are very grateful for the legacies that we receive and greatly appreciate support in this way. However large or small, all legacies enable us to continue helping local people to access essential healthcare and stay connected in this often challenging rural area.
It doesn’t take long to make a big difference in the future…..

Thank you Eyam Book Barn!
Our car scheme volunteers are out and about, using their own vehicles to take local people to medical appointments. A recent grant from Eyam Book Barn has generously funded portable assistance handles to help passengers to get in and out of the car more easily. These are a handy gadget that will make life easier for our passengers and volunteers and they are very much appreciated.
We have a great relationship with Eyam Book Barn – often sharing and swapping books from our secondhand bookshop, Book End in Bakewell, this is a brilliant example of positive collaboration between local charities to support the local communities.

This summer we are delighted to again be receiving valuable support from Travel Chapter - holidaycottages.co.uk - which has enabled us to offer trips to the seaside and also to expand our range of local days out.
Our passengers have had great weather, with a welcomed sea breeze at Bridlington and Lytham St. Annes where Fish and Chips, Ice Creams and a wander on the promenade have been greatly enjoyed.
A huge thank you to holidaycottages.co.uk for their sponsorship, enabling residents of landlocked Derbyshire to enjoy the seaside and to our wonderful drivers for making it all possible.
