Evening admission

This little girl was found in Great Longstone, with no curl response but she was placed on heat straight away and when she arrived she was able to curl up.

She's had fluids administered as she is dehydrated and now currently waiting on a 💩 sample to see what parasites she has and then treatment can start.

Thank you to her finder and thank you to Chris Thirtle for bringing her to me and for the donation

She has been named Amelia 🥰

2 admissions today

One arrived from Baslow after being caught by a cat and the other was brought down to me

The one that has been caught by a cat has a small wound on the wing which has been cleaned, antibiotics given and they're both now tucking into their seed and settling in

Yesterday I had a hedgehog brought to me that was very lethargic, not curling up in a ball and very poorly. Despite my best efforts he unfortunately passed away during the night 😢

This gorgeous little boy was admitted today after being found on a road in Whaley Bridge

He was nearly ran over but his finder stopped traffic, picked him up and brought him too me.

He is dragging his back legs but thankfully there's no broken bones, however there is inflammation. He's received a long lasting anti inflammatory injection to see if this will help him in his recovery. If he shows signs of progress he will continue his rehabilitation here and released into the wild again once fully recovered.

After a sad start to the day with having to have the little rabbit euthanized I thought I'd share this (shortened) video I downloaded from the visiting hogs in our garden.
This is natural behaviour of a male hog trying to whoo a female hog. This isn't aggressive it's simply courting although she wasn't impressed she was more interested in eating her dinner. I mean who wouldn't be, got to get our priorities right 🤣

This went on for 12 minutes hence the shortened video but I wanted to share this because if you see this behaviour with hogs that visit your garden it isn't aggressive or territory disputes (they aren't territorial) it is just the courting ritual they do

It is lovely to share natural behaviour of hogs out in the wild, remember if you do have them visiting please always provide shallow dishes of food and water, there is a list on my page which foods are suitable and which aren't suitable but if you do have any questions about which is suitable for them please do not hesitate to ask me 😊

A sad update for this little girl
She had her leg splinted on Sunday to give her a chance as her hock had been damaged by the stoat but she hasn't been responding to the treatment and last night she went all floppy.
After trying everything possible for her by this morning there had been no improvement so the decision was made to take her to be put to sleep so that she is no longer suffering 💔

Look at the difference in Martha!!

She is just simply gorgeous and totally in love with her but it will soon be time to say goodbye to her as she returns to the wild

It has been an absolute pleasure rearing this little beauty from a hypthermic 161g leverett to now weighing over 1kg

She will be spending some time outdoors in an enclosed area to wild up more before her release near to where she was found

No doubt there will be a few tears when she goes but stories like hers make what I do rewarding
