Our new president is in the local press!

Rotary Tameside has a new president after Amanda Reed-Raja was presented with the chains of office at an official ceremony.

The event was a double celebration, with the Rotary team also hosting its Community Cash Awards at Ashton Masonic Hall.

No fewer than 22 community groups received cash awards, made possible by the thousands of pounds raised through Tameside Rotary’s annual Santa Float appeal last December.

Each year, Rotary pledges to distribute the funds raised to as many local groups as possible. However, the judging criteria is rigorous, with far more organisations applying for support than it is possible to fund.

What an amazing time I had today supporting this event with my fellow Rotarians

I got to meet organisers and volunteers from Kidscan Children's Cancer Research and chat about their work, I got to chat with families and their children listening to their stories and how events like today play a vital role in providing emotional support, fostering relationships with other families who are going through similar situations around cancer.

It was such a joy seeing the kids and their families laughing, and having fun, it might have only been a few hours but the memories created today will last a life time 🥰

We co-funded a fun family event with Kidscan Children's Cancer Research. Thirty one children and their families are having lots of fun. Feedback has been great, children feeling energised and supported and making new friends. 4 lanes in use, food and drink supplied! Every child is leaving with a goodie bag!

A beginning of a new chapter for Rotary Tameside has begun.

Our new president was sworn in! For me this moment as a rotarian is an exciting time, every year a new president is elected and each one of them comes with not just the commitment of delivering the values of Rotary but they all come with fresh ideas, new focuses, passions and objectives for their year.

I attended our members meeting where I got to hear Amanda's plan for the year as president and I have been asked to support her focus on delivering opportunities for our youth which is something I have a keen interest in.

To our outgoing president Mike thank you for everything you have done. I was fortunate enough to attend the meeting where he was sworn in just before I became an official Rotarian, and I remember his speech he made about commitment and what it meant to him to be a Rotarian something I am sure many of us can relate to.

I look forward to seeing Amanda's year as president and supporting her throughout her time, have the best time ever im sure its going to awesome! 🥰

What amazing night last night at the Rotary Tameside Community Cash Awards.

This event has been something that I have attended previously ( within my capacity as Ms UK and Ms Endeavour Great Britain) last night was my 3rd time but this time as part of the Rotary team.

The event was created to support charities and organisations that support the local communities and is done so via the monies raised from the santa float.

The event always leaves me feeling truly humbled, listening to the different organisations and how the grants they recieve support them. Listening to their stories of how the organisations and chairty came about showing that through troubled times a positive light can shine through is an inspiration.

A massive well done to everyone last night

Annual community cash awards is fast approaching
The team have been working hard to make this event happen.
I attended this event previously as Ms UK and the following year as Ms Great Britain Endeavour to discuss the importance of community work and the impact it can have.

It truly is amazing to see different organisations being awarded funds to help support their projects

Really enjoyed tonight's Rotary Meeting and hearing our President elects plans for her term as president.

I am really chuffed to have been asked to lead on the youth projects, something which I am really passionate about.

I cannot wait to get stuck in and support our new presidents plans its going to be an exciting time for Rotary Tameside 😁💛💙

Today we’re celebrating World Rotary Day as Rotary turns an incredible 121 years old.

Since 1905, when Paul Harris gathered a small group of professionals in Chicago, Rotary has grown into a global force for good. What started as one meeting has become a worldwide network of people who believe in friendship, service, and taking action where it matters most.

From tackling disease and supporting communities, to championing young people and responding when the world needs help most, Rotary has never stood still.

Rotary Tameside are proud to play our part, whether that’s through youth competitions, community projects, international support, or bringing people together at events like our Beer Festival.

121 years young, still rolling forward.

If you’ve ever wondered what Rotary is really about, or you’d like to get involved in something positive, practical and genuinely local, drop us a message. There’s always room at the table.
