The theme for this year is ‘Attunement’ but what does that actually mean?

It's all about those moments of connection, where you and baby share space and time, building your ability to be in tune and know what's going on for each other.

It's the little things, like eye contact, talking and singing together, providing comfort and following baby's lead in play - building a secure foundation for communication and relationships.

💜 Volunteer. Fundraiser. First-Time 10K Runner. Meet Lea 💜

As part of Volunteers' Week, we've been celebrating the incredible people who give their time, skills and compassion to support families across Greater Manchester.

Lea volunteers in , helping to ensure that local families have someone by their side when they need support most.

At this week's Volunteers' Week Tea Party at Ryecroft Hall, Lea shared why she decided to become a volunteer and the best thing about being part of Home-Start HOST.

Last year alone our volunteers contributed almost 5,000 hours of support to local families across Greater Manchester. Every conversation, every visit, every act of kindness helps make a difference.

Lea's commitment to Home-Start HOST extends way beyond her volunteering. Last weekend, she took on her first-ever Great Manchester Run 10K, fundraising, and helping Team HOST raise more than £4,000 for local families.🧡

Thank you, Lea, for everything you do. Whether supporting families, fundraising, or championing our work in the community, you're a fantastic example of the difference volunteers make every day.

And thank you to each and every Home-Start HOST volunteer, past and present, for everything you do. We simply couldn't do it without you. 💜🧡

💜 What a day at the Great Manchester Run!

A huge shout out to our brilliant Team HOST!! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our amazing half marathon and 10K runners crossed the finish line and absolutely smashed it!

To everyone who ran, whether you were chasing a PB (like Ted!) jogging with friends, walking, or simply determined to reach the finish line – thank you. We’re incredibly grateful for every step and every effort made in support of local families.

You should all be immensely proud of yourselves. 💜

A huge thank you to all our volunteers and supporters who were out in force cheering on our incredible team of runners throughout the day. The atmosphere was amazing, and your support meant the world.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Every pound raised will help us continue supporting families in our local communities.

The sun is finally shining in Manchester… and the Great Manchester Run is officially SOLD OUT, so it's shaping up to be a great couple of weekends in our city!

A couple of Team Home-Start HOST runners have sadly had to pull out, which means we now have a few last-minute places become available.

If you’ve been thinking about signing up, this is genuinely your final opportunity to take part.

Baby Bank Update - due to delays with moving, we will be CLOSED FOR DONATIONS until Tuesday 5th May.

We hugely appreciate all your donations and the generosity of our community, so thank you again, and thanks for bearing with us for this short period while we move next door.

📢 Baby Bank Update

Please note that our Cascade Baby Bank will be closed from 20th–22nd April.

We’ll be back to normal from Thursday 23rd April.

In the meantime, we’ll be temporarily based next door at:

We’re looking for a Perinatal Peer Support Group Facilitator to join our team 💜

This is a fantastic opportunity to support parents with children aged 0–2 across Tameside, helping to run welcoming peer support groups, build connections, and ensure families can access the support they need.

About the role:
✨ 28 hours per week
📍 Based in Audenshaw (travel across Tameside required)
💷 £25,583–£25,989 pro rata
📅 12-month fixed term

You’ll work closely with families, volunteers, and partner services, delivering groups, offering support (including some 1:1), and helping grow our perinatal support offer.

We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, organised, and confident working with families and volunteers, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and early years.
