Thanks to the magic of small change, your little drops of generosity raised a little over ยฃ21,000 last year, which funded two full days of hospice care ๐Ÿค—

Our brilliant local shops, cafes and pubs make it happen by giving these pots pride of place. Supporting them means supporting the community that keeps hospice care close to home ๐Ÿ’œ

Today we say a fond farewell to Wendy Irons as she retires after an incredible 45 years devoted to healthcare in Tameside and across Greater Manchester.

For the last three years, Wendy has been part of the Willow Wood team as a Dementia Assistant Practitioner, bringing compassion, expertise and kindness to patients and families. Her remarkable career began as an Auxiliary Nurse at Tameside Hospital and has included roles with district nursing teams, respite services and Macmillan in central Manchester.

Reflecting on her 45 years of caring, Wendy said: โ€œI have met some amazing people โ€“ patients, families and colleagues โ€“ and made lots of friends. Itโ€™s been the best years.โ€

Wendyโ€™s dedication has made a lasting difference to countless lives, and we are grateful for everything she has contributed to Willow Wood and the wider community.

Thank you, Wendy. We wish you a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.

Bring your family and friends along to St Paul's Church in Stalybridge (SK15 2PT) for an uplifting performance filled with beautiful songs and warm harmonies.

As we come to the end of Volunteers Week, we'd like to shine a spotlight on our Chair of the Board of Trustees, who is also one of our valued volunteers.

This week, Timothy Jackson rolled up his sleeves and spent time alongside some of our incredible teams across the Hospice.

He helped in our gardens, supported colleagues in our Stalybridge charity shop, spent time with our Fundraising team, lent a hand in Catering, and saw first-hand the important work carried out by our Housekeeping team.

It was a wonderful opportunity to experience the many different ways volunteers contribute to Willow Wood Hospice and the vital role they play in helping us care for patients and families from our local community.

As Volunteers' Week draws to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every single volunteer. Whether you give a few hours a week or support us at special events, your time, dedication and kindness make an enormous difference.
