COUNCILLOR WINSTON MICHAEL M.B.E.

Dear All

I am pleased, through this group, to mention that King Charles has awarded Councillor Winston Michael an M.B.E. in his birthday honours list.
This is in recognition of Winston Michael's dedication to his initiative focussed on building confidence and inclusion for disadvantaged children throughout Kent by running the Kent Challenger games since 2016.

A thoroughly well deserved award for a lifetime of service to our local community and indeed the Ashford Borough too as Mayor.

We must also pay tribute to his wife Doreen, without whose support Winston would not have managed this feat.
Congratulations from all your friends at The Rotary Club Of Ashford Kent .

We had a lovely story of triumph over adversity when Pat Marshall came to tell us about how her life was transformed after losing her sight. It was her Guide Dog, Rosie, who now helps her to stay independent and safe - guiding Pat on routes to multiple local destinations that the clever dog has learned.
She is pictured here with her husband, Roger, and Ashford Rotary Club Vice President, Marion Dinwoodie, as she presents a donation from the Club.
Thanks for an inspiring evening, Pat - and Rosie!

The Rotary Club of Ashford Funds three ShelterBox Units for Global Disaster Relief.
The Rotary Club of Ashford is delighted to announce that we have funded the provision of three ShelterBox units, enabling vital emergency support for families affected by disaster and conflict around the world.
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that provides immediate, practical aid to people who have lost their homes due to earthquakes, floods, cyclones, conflict, and other humanitarian crises. Each iconic green ShelterBox contains a carefully selected range of essential items designed to help a family survive and begin rebuilding their lives. Typical contents include:
• A robust, family-sized emergency tent
• Thermal blankets and ground mats
• Water purification equipment
• Solar lighting
• Basic tools and repair kits
• Cooking sets and other essential household items
These life-saving supplies offer displaced families safety, dignity, and the means to start recovering at the most desperate of times.
Our club is proud to support this extraordinary work. Funding three complete ShelterBox units represents a meaningful contribution to global humanitarian efforts, and we extend heartfelt thanks to everyone whose generosity made this possible.
Together, we continue to demonstrate the Rotary spirit of service above self, helping communities near and far when they need it most.

Welcome to Our First Corporate Members!
We were delighted to induct Brabourne Care Centre, represented by Genevieve Rodriguez, as the very first Corporate Members of The Rotary Club of Ashford. President Val led the presentation, and it was a real pleasure to welcome them into our Rotary family as new partners in service.
Corporate Membership gives local organisations the chance to get involved in Rotary as a team. It allows several staff members to share meetings, projects, and volunteering opportunities — offering flexibility for busy workplaces while strengthening community links. For the club, it brings fresh ideas, new skills, and stronger partnerships with organisations who share our commitment to making a positive difference.
