The Ampthill vs Cancer 5K invites everyone to join a powerful community response on 29th June, whether you are from Ampthill or not, you can make a difference.

Every step matters, with all proceeds going to cancer charities to raise awareness, support families and fund vital research. Located in the beautiful Ampthill Park, this event welcomes runners, walkers and supporters of all abilities. No matter your fitness level or connection to cancer, you can stand united against this disease. There will also be a run for the kids (Golden Hare Mile) and a chance for you to enjoy a picnic in the park with live music.

💜Cancer can take its toll on your strength. Your fundraising is helping people find it again.

We're incredibly proud to announce that Ampthill vs Cancer is funding 18 places on Stronger Foundations, a new eight week specialist cancer exercise and rehabilitation programme.

Supporting local people before, during and after cancer treatment, the programme will help participants rebuild strength, confidence and wellbeing.

Delivered independently by The Movement and Therapy Clinic and Olena Baker Health Ltd, all 18 places are fully funded and completely free for eligible local participants.

This builds on our earlier work securing NHS funding for specialist Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation training, helping bring much-needed support to our community.

And it's all thanks to YOU! 💜🙏

⛳️ Who knew a round of golf could raise over £9,700 for Ampthill vs Cancer?

Back in September, we held our very first Ampthill vs Cancer Golf Day at The Millbrook Golf club and we’re over the moon to share that we’re expecting to have raised over £9,700! 📣

Not bad for our first golf day! 😃

A huge thank you to our very own Gavin White who worked so hard to organise the event, and to Rob and the team at Millbrook Golf Club for being such brilliant hosts.

Question: How do you raise £505 for AVC? Answer: Host a brilliant quiz night! 💜

Last week, the team at The Chequers at Westoning put everyone's general knowledge to the test with a cracking quiz night in support of Ampthill vs Cancer!

A huge thank you to landlord Phil and his wife Vicky, who organised the evening, and to quizmaster Lewis for keeping everyone on their toes with the questions!

Of course, a big thank you to everyone who came along, joined in the fun and helped raise such a wonderful amount.

It means so much to us when people give up their time to organise events like this for AVC. We're incredibly grateful for the thought, effort and generosity that goes into making them happen.

💜 £10,000 to bring vital cancer support to Bedfordshire.

We're really pleased to share some lovely news about how your fundraising is making a difference in our local community.

This week, Ampthill vs Cancer trustees presented a cheque for £10,000 to Al's Pals, helping the charity bring its befriending and emotional support services to Bedfordshire for the very first time.

Al's Pals provides one-to-one support for people affected by cancer. Sometimes, having someone to listen, offer reassurance or simply be there for a chat can make all the difference.
The funding will help establish the service locally, including recruiting and training volunteers, with three volunteers already in place to support people in our area.

Of the £10,000, £7,000 has been awarded by Ampthill vs Cancer, with a further £3,000 secured through a grant from the Frank Branston Charitable Trust. A huge thank you to the Trust for their support.

Being able to support organisations like Al's Pals is only possible because of the kindness and generosity of our community.

We wanted to say a huge well done to Angela and Yssy Holbrook, who has completed a skydive in memory of Steve Holbrook, raising money for Brain Tumour Research.

Steve was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma in 2015. During his illness, he worked hard to raise awareness and funds for brain tumour research, something Angela is continuing in his memory with this incredible challenge. 🙏

Angela’s skydive was an independent fundraiser for Brain Tumour Research and we wanted to share it because taking on cancer together is bigger than any one charity. 💜

It’s about people supporting causes that matter to them, raising awareness, raising funds and doing what they can to make a difference.

A huge well done to Angela on completing the skydive, and for continuing Steve’s legacy.
