Welcome to The Cooldown - a free afternoon of live music, great food, family activities, community stalls and fundraising, open to everyone.

You don’t need a race number to join us. Whether you’re running, walking supporting from the sidelines, or simply looking for a fantastic community day out, we’d love to see you there.

Hill of Hope 💜

One of the most iconic parts of the Ampthill vs Cancer route returns for 2026… the Hill of Hope, once again proudly sponsored by Cook and Crossman Ltd

From our very first event in 2025, the Hill of Hope has become one of the most memorable moments of the 5K.

More than just a climb, it represents the resilience, strength and determination shown by those affected by cancer - a reminder that even the toughest challenges can be overcome one step at a time.

For those who enjoy a challenge, the Hill of Hope also features a timed section, giving participants the opportunity to test themselves and see how they measure up on the route. Whether you’re pushing for a personal best or simply taking it at your own pace, every step to the top is an achievement worth celebrating.

🐰💜 New for 2026 – The Mini Hare! 💜🐰

We’re delighted to have Oak Fostering sponsoring our brand-new Mini Hare Run this year.

Designed especially for our youngest runners, the Mini Hare is open to children aged 6 and under and takes place around the cricket pitch at Ampthill Park.

No pressure, no timings – just lots of smiles, excitement and a chance for the little ones to run extra wild!

Open to children aged 7–12, the Golden Hare Mile gives young people the chance to be part of something special – challenge themselves, earn a medal, and help make a difference for local cancer charities. A huge thank you to Cllr Stephen Addy, the outgoing Mayor of Ampthill, for presenting a generous cheque to Ampthill vs Cancer and for his support since the very start of AVC.

Steve chose Ampthill vs Cancer, along with For Men To Talk - Ampthill as one of his mayoral causes and has been a passionate advocate for what we are trying to achieve – bringing people together to support those affected by cancer and helping turn community fundraising into meaningful local action.

His support has extended far beyond fundraising. From helping us navigate the journey to becoming a registered charity to championing our events and initiatives across Ampthill and beyond, Steve has played an important role in our development.

As his term as Mayor comes to an end, we are delighted that he remains very much part of the Ampthill vs Cancer family.

This incredible donation will help us continue supporting local cancer charities and initiatives that make a real difference to people and families affected by cancer.

Steve often speaks about the community spirit that makes Ampthill so special, and we couldn’t agree more. The success of Ampthill vs Cancer is only possible because of the kindness, generosity and willingness of people to come together for a common cause.

From the Hill of Hope and Memory Lane to the Finishers Bell, each landmark has been designed to bring the route to life, creating atmosphere, encouragement, and memorable moments for everyone taking part.
