Supported Tier Wednesday 24th June 2026. With the temperature predicted to be very high tomorrow, please do not arrive before 1.45pm. We have arranged for gazebos to be put up opposite the Fridge, providing some shade. We will hand put numbered tickets so you do not need to queue on the ramp.

There’s still plenty of opportunity to help save good food from going to waste this weekend, with our remaining Use By Sessions taking place at:

As always, food is available on a first come, first served basis and quantities will vary depending on collections.

It’s shaping up to be a busy weekend, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to our fantastic volunteer team who are giving up their evenings to help ensure good food is redistributed rather than wasted. ❤️

We’re also incredibly grateful to our amazing charity partners, Tesco Flitwick, Co-op, The Cottage Bakery and Budgens Flitwick, whose donations make these sessions possible.

🍪 A huge thank you to The Olde Watermill Shopping Village for their generous donation of 120 gingerbread men, which will be available to our Supported Tier households on Wednesday and Saturday. 🎉

We are incredibly fortunate to be supported by so many local businesses, community groups and charity partners who help us make a difference every week. Their support allows us to provide a wider range of food and household essentials to local families who need a little extra help. 💚

For those who are new to Flitwick Community Fridge, we operate two membership tiers:

🛒 Community Fridge Membership
Open to everyone. Members can attend our regular sessions and help us reduce food waste by giving surplus food a good home.

🤝 Supported Tier Membership
Available to Mid Bedfordshire households on a low income or who are struggling to eat well. This tier provides access to additional support, including our weekly top-up table, priority access to frozen protein when available, toiletries and other targeted support.

We’ve emailed and sent an SMS to all members who have given us permission to contact them, but we don’t want anyone making a wasted journey.

📢 Changes to opening hours from Monday 8th June

After reviewing visitor feedback, usage data, food availability and volunteer capacity, we’re making some changes to our opening hours from Monday 8th June.

The main changes are:

🔹 Friday afternoon sessions will no longer run
🔹 Afternoon sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are moving slightly later to 15:00-16:30
🔹 Our Wednesday supported tier only session is moving to 14:00-16:30, allowing us to offer a better and more varied stock selection
🔹 We’re introducing occasional Saturday and Sunday evening use-by sessions at 20:50, when enough surplus food and volunteers are available
🔹 From Saturday 13th June, supported tier households will also have access to a smaller top-up table during the normal Saturday morning session. Please note only supported tier members can access the top-up table.

Our Saturday and Sunday evening use-by sessions are dependent on surplus availability and volunteer capacity. Updates will only be shared through our WhatsApp channel.

🥬 Flitwick Community Fridge, Saturday 6th June 🥖

We're open tomorrow from 09:30-11:30 at The Rufus Centre with another great selection of surplus food available.

This week's highlights include:
🥕 A wide selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, including potatoes, carrots, onions, broccoli, peppers, citrus fruit and bananas
🍞 Fresh bread and bakery items
🧊 Frozen food, including meat and protein items
🍗 Frozen KFC chicken

Please note that frozen meat and protein items are limited to **one item per household** to help ensure there is enough for everyone.

Up to 3kg of food per household. Please remember to bring your own bag.

We're also pleased to confirm that our new Saturday supported tier top-up table will launch from next weekend.

Flitwick Community Fridge helps redistribute good surplus food that would otherwise go to waste while supporting local households. We're not a food bank and everyone is welcome.

🥕 Plenty of surplus food available at Flitwick Community Fridge today! 🍞🍎

We’ve got a great selection out this morning including fresh fruit and veg, bread, bagels, pastries, chilled items and frozen food.

Open today from 09:30-11:30 at the Food Hub at The Rufus Centre.
