DAWGS - Dog Action Working Group Scotland SCIO DAWGS is a charity that finds loving new homes for dogs whose owners can no longer care for them

DAWGS (Dog Action Working Group Scotland) is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation and a dog welfare charity based in the North East of Scotland. We are dedicated to finding loving new homes for unwanted dogs, dogs in need, or dogs whose owners, perhaps due to illness or a change in family circumstances can no longer care for them. Since our formation in 1994, we have helped re-home over

2,000 dogs and puppies. DAWGS is solely funded by public donations and fundraising events. We receive no government funding and are not part of a national organization. If you are interested in re-homing a dog or have a dog you would like us to re-home, please visit our website – www.dawgs.co.uk

If your dog had an accident or suddenly became unwell, would you know how to help until you could get veterinary care?

🩹 Canine first aid can save lives.

We’re hosting a Canine First Aid Course on:

📅 Saturday 17th October
📍 Inchgarth Community Centre
⏰ 10am – 2/3pm
💷 Just £59

You’ll learn vital first aid skills that you hope you’ll never need to use… but one day could make all the difference and potentially save your dog’s life. ❤️🐶

The course will be run by Pet-Ex Services and is suitable for all dog owners.

After waiting so long for his forever family, we thought we’d share a few photos of gorgeous Breck enjoying life in his new home. 🥰🏡

And honestly… we think it’s safe to say he’s right at home! ❤️ Breck is clearly soaking up every minute of the love, attention and comfort he deserves.

🐾🏔️ ROCKY IS LOOKING FOR HIS ADVENTURE PARTNER! 🏔️🐾

Meet Rocky, a handsome 6 year old mixed breed, possibly a Podenco mix, weighing around 16kg. This happy, energetic lad is looking for his very special forever person. ❤️

Rocky loves life and loves adventure! 🌿 He enjoys hiking, running and mountain biking and would make a fantastic companion for someone who enjoys exploring the great outdoors. If you're looking for a running buddy or a fellow Munro-bagger, Rocky could be your perfect match! 🥾⛰️

At home, Rocky is a completely different boy relaxed, lazy and happy to spend his time napping! 😴 He loves being with his humans but is also happy being left for periods of time.

He is good on the lead and doesn't pull, and his recall is generally good. However, Rocky has a strong prey drive, particularly for squirrels, cats, birds and mice, so his recall can disappear when temptation strikes! 🐿️

Rocky can also show some guarding tendencies around food and occasionally toys, so he needs an experienced owner who is confident with dogs and willing to continue his training.

🏡 Rocky is looking for a child free home where he can be the only pet and cannot live with cats or other dogs.

He is crate trained, loves travelling in the car and is happiest when he's out exploring with his people. 🚗❤️

Rocky has so much to offer the right person. He just needs someone experienced, active and committed to helping him be the best boy he can be.

🐾💕 MAPLE IS LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME! 💕🐾

Just look at this adorable little face! 😍 Meet Maple, a gorgeous 14 week old Beaglier (Beagle X Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and a complete little bundle of fun, love and puppy mischief! 🐶

Maple is an outgoing, confident and incredibly affectionate little girl who absolutely loves people. She has a wonderful, happy nature and is always ready to see what exciting things the world has to offer! 🐾

She’s also a very inquisitive girl and, unsurprisingly, food is definitely the way to Maple’s heart! Her love of treats should make training lots of fun, and she is already doing really well with some of her basics.

🏡 A little bit about Maple:
🐾 She is great with children
🐾 She enjoys the company of other dogs
🐾 She is getting there with her toilet training
🐾 She has been introduced to crate training, although she isn't its biggest fan just yet!
🐾 She walks well on the lead
🐾 She absolutely loves going in the car

As adorable as Maple is, she is still a very young puppy and will need a family who understands that raising a puppy takes time, patience, consistency and commitment. ❤️

Maple can bond very quickly and deeply with her people, so her ideal home would be a multi person household where she has plenty of company.

We would also love to see Maple in a home with another friendly, playful dog who can keep her company and help her learn the ways of the world. 🐕💕 She absolutely loves having a canine friend around and would benefit from that companionship.

Maple really is a little ray of sunshine and we want to find her a home that will give her the very best start in life. 🌟

🐾 From Pumpkin to Ivy – A Beautiful Adoption Success Story ❤️

In November 2025, Pumpkin’s life changed forever when she found her loving forever home and became Ivy. 🏡💕

Ivy’s family had been hoping to offer a rescue dog a secure, loving home and most importantly a place to truly belong.

When Ivy first arrived, she was quite nervous and unsure. Everything was new, and it took her a little time to feel comfortable. Thankfully, she had two wonderful Rhodesian Ridgebacks to help show her the ropes. Ivy quickly began looking to them for reassurance and guidance. 🐶🐶🐶❤️

With patience, understanding and plenty of positive experiences, her confidence has grown enormously. She can still find busy built up areas, cafés and groups of people a little challenging, but she is now learning to take them in her stride.
Ivy has even discovered that cafés can be rather wonderful particularly when a tasty sweet treat is involved! 😄☕️🍪

One of her family’s most memorable moments came when Ivy finally felt comfortable enough to fall asleep on her back on the sofa. Until then, she had always chosen the security of her crate when she wanted to sleep. Seeing her completely relaxed and vulnerable in the middle of the family was a little but incredibly special moment. It showed them that Ivy finally felt safe, settled and truly at home. ❤️

Since adopting her, Ivy has brought so much fun, energy and personality into their lives. She has formed a lovely bond with the family’s dogs and has added a whole new dynamic to the family. Watching her grow from a nervous, unsure girl into the happy, cheeky and confident character she is today has been incredibly rewarding.

Her family says adopting Ivy has taught them just how important patience, understanding and giving a dog the time and space they need to settle and feel secure can be. The little challenges have all been worth it to see the transformation in Ivy and the bond they have built together.

Pumpkin became Ivy, and Ivy found her forever family. 🥰🐾
