DAWGS - Dog Action Working Group Scotland SCIO DAWGS is a charity that finds loving new homes for dogs whose owners can no longer care for them

DAWGS (Dog Action Working Group Scotland) is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation and a dog welfare charity based in the North East of Scotland. We are dedicated to finding loving new homes for unwanted dogs, dogs in need, or dogs whose owners, perhaps due to illness or a change in family circumstances can no longer care for them. Since our formation in 1994, we have helped re-home over

2,000 dogs and puppies. DAWGS is solely funded by public donations and fundraising events. We receive no government funding and are not part of a national organization. If you are interested in re-homing a dog or have a dog you would like us to re-home, please visit our website – www.dawgs.co.uk

🐾❤️ FOREVER HOME WANTED FOR BEAUTIFUL HARLEY ❤️🐾

Adopt Harley, our gorgeous 5 year old American Bulldog who is searching for her special forever person. 🐶✨

Harley is a big, beautiful girl with an even bigger heart. She is friendly, loyal, loving, and absolutely adores spending time with her humans. 💕🐾

🎾 Her favourite thing? BALLS! Harley loves to play and will happily chase a ball for as long as you'll throw it. She also enjoys soft toys... although they may not stay stuffed for very long! 😂🧸

🚶‍♀️ Harley loves her walks, especially when she can enjoy some off lead freedom in a secure enclosed area. She can be strong on the lead when excited, so she'll need someone confident who can handle her enthusiasm for life.

🏡 We feel Harley would thrive in a semi-rural home with a large, secure garden where she can relax, sunbathe, and enjoy her surroundings. ☀️🌳

🐕 Harley has never lived with another dog and would be happiest as the only pet in the home, soaking up all the love and attention for herself.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Due to her size and energy levels, Harley would be best suited to an adult only home or one with older, dog-savvy children.

🚗 She travels well in the car and can happily be left for around 4 hours when needed.

As we get ourselves up and ready to face the day, some of our furry friends aren't quite as enthusiastic about an early start... 😴

👑🐾 Adoption Success Story: Princess Belle 🐾👑

Back in April 2018, after getting married the year before, Belle's adopters knew they wanted to welcome a dog into their lives. As lifelong dog lovers, they wanted to give a rescue dog a second chance rather than buying a puppy. ❤️🏡

Having grown up with Collies, Belle's owner already knew just how intelligent, loyal, and fun the breed could be. When Belle appeared on Facebook looking for a home, something just clicked, she seemed like the perfect fit. 🐶✨

And Belle clearly agreed! When they arrived to meet her and started loading her belongings into the car, Belle jumped straight into the boot and refused to come back out. 😆🚗 Her crate had to be squeezed into the back seat instead! It was almost as if she already knew she had found her forever family. ❤️

Although Belle was a little nervous at first, she quickly felt comfortable around her new owners. Over the years, they've learned to take things at her pace, helping her build confidence and enjoy life to the fullest. 🥰🐾

One of their most treasured memories together was travelling the North Coast 500. Belle loved exploring new places, running along beautiful beaches, and chasing her frisbee with endless enthusiasm. 🌊🎾🏞️

Since adopting Belle, life has become one big adventure. She has encouraged her family to get outdoors more, discover new places, and create countless special memories together. ❤️

Today, everyone knows her as "Princess Belle" 👑🐶. She has celebrated 8 wonderful years with her family. Now 11 years old, Belle continues to be a much loved member of the family and proof that giving a rescue dog a second chance can change lives forever. 🏡💕✨

✨ SPECIAL HOME NEEDED FOR BEAUTIFUL SKYE ✨

Meet Skye a stunning 4 year old Border Collie with so much love, intelligence, and personality hidden beneath her worries. She’s searching for a very special person who can look beyond her insecurities and give her the patient, understanding home she truly deserves. ❤️

At home with her trusted people, Skye is playful, funny, and loyal. She loves being close to you (yes, even bathroom supervision 😂) and enjoys simply having her people nearby. While she’s not overly cuddly, she forms incredibly deep bonds with those she trusts.

Skye is an exceptionally clever girl who thrives when her brain is engaged. She adores chasing her ball, running freely, car rides, snow days, and adventures outdoors.

However, Skye does struggle with anxiety and can be reactive around unfamiliar people and situations. New visitors to the home worry her, and she can react to people approaching her on walks. Loud noises and unexpected objects can also make her uneasy. Because of this, she needs an experienced, patient owner who understands nervous and reactive dogs, ideally someone with Border Collie experience too.

Skye’s perfect home would be:
🏡 A quiet, fairly rural household
🐾 Calm and predictable with minimal visitors
🧠 Committed to continuing her training and confidence building
❤️ Patient enough to let Skye settle at her own pace
🚶 Someone who understands management around her triggers

Previously, we introduced you to Delilah, who urgently needed surgery to repair her dislocating hip. We’re so happy to share that her surgery has gone well, and she is now beginning her long road to recovery ❤️

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated and supported Delilah so far. Thanks to your kindness, we have already raised 12% of our target towards covering her surgery and rehabilitation costs.

Beautiful girl Harley is a 5 year old American Bulldog searching for her forever person ❤️

Harley is friendly, loyal, and incredibly loving. She adores playing, especially with her ball and enjoys soft toys too… although they may not stay stuffed for long! 🎾🧸

She loves her walks, particularly off lead in a secure enclosed area where she can really enjoy herself. Harley is strong and can pull on the lead when excited, so she’ll need someone confident who understands larger dogs.

🏡 Harley’s ideal home:
• A large enclosed garden
• Semi rural location where she can relax and enjoy sunny days ☀️
• An adult only home or older, dog savvy children
• As the only pet, she’s never lived with another dog and would suit being the centre of someone’s world ❤️

🚗 Harley travels well in the car and can happily be left for around 4 hours. She’s energetic, strong, and full of life, so her future family will need to take this into account.

🚨 URGENT FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED 🚨

💛 Beautiful Layla is a 6 year old Golden Retriever searching for an urgent foster or forever home 💛

Layla is everything people love about Goldens. Gentle, affectionate, friendly and happiest when surrounded by people. She absolutely adores company and cuddles, and has so much love to give.

✨ About Layla:
🐾 Super friendly and laid back
🐾 Well trained with good recall
🐾 Loves people and companionship

Layla has never really been left without other dogs around, so she would be happiest in a home with another dog or someone around for most of the day. She’s incredibly loving and forms strong bonds with her people.

Things to consider:
🏡 Due to her love of affection (and enthusiastic cuddles!), we think she’d be best suited to an adult only home or with dog savvy children
🏡 She can jump garden fences if left alone outside, so a secure, high fenced garden is essential
🐱 No known experience with cats

Layla has also recently had 9 teeth removed whilst in foster and has recovered really well. Her vet has noted a slow heart rate which needs monitoring, but she is not on any medication.

This beautiful girl deserves stability, love and a family who will cherish her. We urgently need either a foster placement or, even better, her forever home. Please share far and wide to help Layla find safety and happiness. 💛🐾
