TENBY LODGE SUMMER BBQ IS A HUGE SUCCESS

Over 130 people attended the Tenby Lodge summer fundraising BBQ on August 9th at the Swanlake Inn at Jameston.
Worshipful Master Damian Brown, who owns the Inn, generously allowed the lodge the use of the bar and grounds for the event, on what was a very warm evening. The ticket price was all inclusive and so covered food, drinks and entertainment for the evening.
The Lodge had obtained donations of food products, b**r and w**e, and raffle and auction prizes for the event from 17 different sponsors, the logos of which were all featured on a huge display board along with photographs of charitable donations made by the lodge in recent months. Letters of thanks have since been sent to all 17 sponsors.
Among the sponsors were lodge members Jac Worley who generously provided ice creams from his van (Worley’s of Manorbier), David Marshall, who contributed a stay at his guest house (Pen Mar in Tenby) as a prize, Paul Deverson who runs the Evergreen Inn in Tenby and funded the Miltones band for the event, and of course the Worshipful Master himself who not only provided the venue but donated a Smart TV as an auction prize. Talented member Mike Jones also entertained by singing and playing guitar.
Some of the members wives and partners had prepared delicious salads and desserts to compliment the choice of meats. A number of lodge members donated raffle prizes.
Several well known brethren attended from as far afield as Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and Llanelli.
The profit from the event was a very impressive £4,336, all of which will be used for charitable purposes.

Tenby Lodge gives further support to Paul Sartori Foundation

Tenby Lodge has been a regular donor to the Paul Sartori Foundation over the years, and that support continued recently with a further contribution of £1,000.
Earlier this year, the lodge held a fundraising casino night at Tenby Masonic Hall, where members and partners came along wearing ‘Peaky Blinders’ themed fancy dress. It was a fun evening which raised around £500. As the main organiser who provided the equipment for the evening and decorated the Hall, lodge member Joe Taylor requested that the proceeds be donated to Paul Sartori. It was quickly agreed by the Lodge Committee to match the amount from Lodge charity funds, making a total donation of £1,000.
The Paul Sartori Foundation was established in 1981 and offers free hospice services to people over the age of 18 Years living in Pembrokeshire, in the later stages of any life-limiting disease and whose condition is deteriorating. The Foundation’s mission is to provide sustainable services which promote good end of life care, that care being provided in the patient’s home where possible. Services include home nursing care, physiotherapy, equipment loans, and training for health professionals.
Sadly, Tenby Lodge members themselves have found the need to call upon the Foundation for assistance with very sick partners. One senior member said “the Paul Sartori nurses are currently providing care for my wife who is suffering from dementia and COPD. I cannot fault them for their service or thank them enough. Without them I would be lost.”
Another lodge member whose wife passed away some years ago was so grateful for the support received that he has remained friends with the Paul Sartori volunteers and often joins them in their own fundraising activities.
