Out on a Shout!

This afternoon both our Atlantic 85 and Arancia boats were launched to respond to an emergency north of Aberystwyth.

Three casualties were recovered between Aberystwyth and Clarach after being cut off by the tide and being unable to walk to safety. They were brought back to the lifeboat station where they were checked to be safe and well.

If you ever feel you’re in danger on the coast, do what they did and call 999. It’s always best to be safe than risk the situation getting worse.

Another busy weeks training and assessing at Aberystwyth RNLI!

Congratulations to Oliver Morris on passing out as Tier 1 crew on our lifeboat! This marks a great milestone in progression on our crew, and demonstrates the skills needed to save lives at sea!

Congratulations also to Tom D on completing the boat-handling course in the RNLI training college in Poole this week, as he continues his journey to becoming a helm.

Congratulations to Tom C on successfully passing out as Tier 2 crew on our Atlantic 85 lifeboat today! 👏🚤

A great achievement following months of RNLI training, exercises and dedication on station. Tier 2 competency is a significant milestone and reflects the commitment and professionalism required to operate as part of the crew.

Many thanks to Paul (left), our coastal lifeboat trainer for coming up to complete the assessment!

Well done Tom, thoroughly deserved. 🌊

At Aberystwyth RNLI, we stand in solemn reflection with the maritime search and rescue community following the tragic loss of fellow volunteer SAR colleagues in New South Wales, Australia.

As a mark of respect, our flag flies at half mast in their memory. We honour the courage and selflessness shown by those who dedicate their lives to saving others at sea, often in the most challenging and dangerous conditions.

This loss is a stark reminder of the risks faced by all who answer the call to rescue. Our thoughts are with their families, friends, and crews at this profoundly difficult time.

They will not be forgotten.

🚜 Tractor Mania at the station this morning!

Some of you may have noticed we had not one, not two, but THREE tractors on site earlier today 👀

After a bit of manoeuvring and moving things around, we’ve taken on a ‘new’ temporary tractor while our own heads away for a well-earned service. Keeping our equipment in top condition is essential to making sure we’re always ready to respond when needed.

The replacement unit has now been settled into the shed and is ready to launch the boat at a moment’s notice 🚤

It’s been a busy and productive week for the crew at RNLI Aberystwyth!

Crew members have been hard at work developing the skills that keep our community safe. Bryn and Elin travelled to Poole for specialist training at RNLI HQ - Bryn successfully completed his tractor driver revalidation across a range of challenging terrains, while Elin took part in a Searcher course, preparing for the vital role of Navigator on our Atlantic 85.

Back at station, Tom, Will and Ian have been putting in the hours with the coastal trainer, progressing steadily towards their helm and navigator qualifications.

A huge well done to everyone for their commitment and dedication! Training like this ensures we’re always ready when it matters most.

The idea? Greater visibility, stronger identity, and… well, we think it really suits us.

🪂Just one week to go! 🪂

Matthew’s on the final countdown for his epic skydive to help us save lives at sea 🌊

He’s already raised over £2K and will be hosting a Raffle Giveaway at The White Horse, from 3pm after his skydive on Monday 6 April.

Matthew said: ‘I want to thank everyone who’s supported this so far. Anything you can donate to give me a final push will be hugely appreciated.

‘It all makes a difference to help the volunteer crew save lives at sea.’
