🎉 Congratulations to Loz and Oli!

Join us in celebrating two fantastic achievements by our volunteers at Aberystwyth RNLI.

Loz has passed out as Head Launcher, taking on an important command role, while Oli has passed out as Tier 2 Crew.

These qualifications prove the dedication these two make to the station, and will help us in maintaining our lifesaving efforts in Cardigan Bay.

A huge well done to you both, and thank you to Paul for helping our crew reach these milestones! 🛟🌊

🎉 Congratulations, Arfon and Madeline!

A huge congratulations to Arfon and Madeline, who have both successfully passed their assessments and are now officially Tier 1 crew members at Aberystwyth RNLI! 🚤🌊

Their assessments were carried out by our station assessor, Bryn, and we’re incredibly proud of the hard work, commitment and dedication they’ve both put into reaching this milestone.

Please join us in congratulating Arfon and Madeline on passing out as Tier 1 crew! 👏

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past week. From your kind words and messages of encouragement to the generous donations we’ve received, your support means so much to our crew and our station.

The RNLI is a charity that exists to save lives at sea. But recent events have generated deliberate misinformation and a misunderstanding about our purpose and our lifesaving work in the Channel.

As a result, some of our volunteers and staff have been the subject of online and, in some cases, physical abuse. This is unacceptable.

The RNLI’s people represent the very best of society. For over two hundred years they have dedicated themselves to rescuing people they’ve never met before, without judgment, fear or favour.

We are tasked by HM Coastguard to help those in distress, and we'll do so whenever, wherever and whoever they are.

We launched 9,058 times in 2025. Only 109 of those launches were to those in distress in the Channel – 1.2% of our total rescue work. Anyone rescued from a small boat by the RNLI is then taken into the care of the relevant UK authorities.

To those who stand with the RNLI, thank you. For more than two hundred years, we've saved lives at sea around the UK and Ireland, and that commitment remains unchanged.

⚓ Merchant Navy Day

Today we remember the men and women of the Merchant Navy who have served our country in times of war, many making the ultimate sacrifice at sea.

We also recognise the thousands of seafarers who continue to work at sea today, keeping our country supplied and connected with the world.

Today, our flag will fly at half-mast in memory of Stan, the much-loved husband of our long serving RNLI shop volunteer, Caroline, who sadly passed away this morning.

Our thoughts are with Caroline, her family and all those who knew and loved Stan at this very difficult time.

From one maritime community to another, we remember those who have been lost at sea, those who continue to work upon it, and those whose lives are forever connected to it.

We will remember them. ⚓

6 shouts in 8 days.

It’s been an exceptionally busy week for the volunteers at Aberystwyth RNLI, with six callouts in just eight days.

The incidents have ranged from just inside Aberystwyth Harbour to around 16 miles offshore, with a variety of taskings including searches, rescues and even helping a dog that had fallen into difficulty.

This week was also a particularly special one for Madeline, who went to sea on her first shout with Aberystwyth RNLI. Well done Madeline, the first of many we’re sure! 🚤💙

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers for giving up their time to help keep people safe at sea.
