After Colin Laker's talk about Robert Owen and his museum I am taking a group to Newtown on the train from Aberystwyth at 9.25 on 27 October. The train arrives at 10.40 and the museum opens at 11am. The textile museum opens at 12 so we can go on there afterwards. There are trains back at 14.06 and 16.06.
The cost of the train ticket is £13.25 with a senior railcard and £19.80 full-price.
If you would like to come, send me an email at [email protected], so I have some idea of numbers.
We will all be independent adults who happen to be going to two museums. Lunch will be arranged individually but there are some good cafes.
I will expect participants to buy their own train tickets.

U3A Update October 2026
We had several interested newcomers at our introductory day in September. The leaders of the different groups introduced themselves and their area of interest. There was time afterwards for people to chat to different leaders. We even had someone volunteering to be on the committee.
Our next talk will be on 15 October at 2.30 in the Bandstand, when Colin Laker will talk about Robert Owen and his museum in Newtown.
As always, our members are welcome .
U3A encourages lively discussion and activities that keep us all young. Our activities are aimed primarily at older people, not in full time employment. Annual membership from January to December 2027 is an all inclusive fee of £20. Details of how to pay are on the website.
For more details, including membership forms and contacts for the special interest groups, please visit the Aberystwyth U3A website: https://aberystwyth.u3asite.uk/ .
