The Qur’an presents Jesus as an example of righteousness and kindness toward his mother.

When Jesus speaks of the blessings Allah gave him, he says:

""And [He made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant."" (Qur’an 19:32)

Jesus was not only a great prophet and a miraculous sign from Allah. He was also a loving and dutiful son.

And look at how Islam honors his mother.

Maryam is the only woman mentioned by name in the Qur’an, and an entire chapter is named after her: Surah Maryam.

The Qur’an repeatedly presents her as a woman chosen and honored by Allah

So when Islam tells us the story of Jesus, it does not separate him from the honor given to his mother.

Jesus honored Mary.
And Islam honors them both.

Unlike some other religions, such as Christianity, which teaches that Jesus (peace be upon him) sacrificed himself on the cross to pay the penalty for people’s sins, Islam teaches that sins are not transferred or shared. Every person is accountable for their own actions.

Allah (SWT) says in Surah Al-Isra, Chapter 17, verse 15:

""Whoever chooses to be guided, it is only for their own good. And whoever chooses to stray, it is only to their own loss. No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. And We would never punish ˹a people˺ until We have sent a messenger ˹to warn them˺.""

Day by day, we see more reasons to reflect on Islam’s clear and rational understanding of personal accountability.

If you want to know who Allah is, the Qur’an gives you the answer in just four powerful verses.

When people asked Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about his Lord, Allah revealed:

(“Say, He is Allah, One.
Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
He neither begets nor is born.
And there is nothing comparable to Him.)
(Qur’an 112:1–4)

These four verses describe the foundation of who Allah is.

He is One — there is no deity worthy of worship besides Him.

He is the Eternal Refuge — all creation depends on Him, while He depends on no one.

He neither begets nor is born — He has no beginning, no offspring, and no need for a family or partner.

And nothing is comparable to Him — Allah is not a human, a creature, or anything else within creation.

Everything we know is dependent, limited, and temporary.

Allah is the One upon whom everything depends.

These are among the fundamental attributes of Allah in Islam.

So ask yourself: Does this align with your understanding of God? You might be closer to Islam than you think.

A HISTORY THEY RARELY TELL YOU:

More than 1,400 years ago, Islam recognized women’s right to seek divorce from harmful marriages and established rights for them and their children afterward.

In many European countries, legal divorce came centuries later.

So, at certain points in history, did Muslim women have legal rights that European women did not?

The history may surprise you.

Imagine making a mistake and being told that you need another human being to stand between you and your Creator before you can be forgiven.

Islam says: You don’t
Your relationship with Allah is direct.

This is the essence of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah): worship, prayer, hope, repentance, and seeking forgiveness are all directed to Allah alone.

Allah Almighty says:
""When My servants ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond ˹with obedience˺ to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided ˹to the Right Way˺"". (Quran 2:186)

"The Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:

""Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise."" (Sahih al-Bukhari, 6094.)

This means that being truthful in one’s speech, actions, and intentions leads a person to righteousness.

Righteousness is a comprehensive term that encompasses every form of goodness and obedience that brings a person closer to Allah and ultimately leads them to Paradise.
