Some projects stay with you long after the last scene has ended. ❤️

Looking back on Play It Forward, we will remember the warmth, curiosity, laughter, and meaningful conversations we shared while exploring the Theatre of the Oppressed.

What made this experience so special was that it was never just about theatre. We stepped into different roles, brought real-life situations into the room, questioned what feels unjust, and explored what might happen if we dared to respond differently. We learned by doing, listening, reflecting, and most importantly learning from one another.

For youth workers and educators, it offered practical tools for dialogue, participation, and action. Play It Forward reminded us that change can begin with something as simple as stepping into someone else’s shoes, imagining another possibility, and having the courage to try.

💚 Change is emotional. Taking action can bring hope, connection and a sense of purpose. And it can also bring frustration, fear, conflict and exhaustion. Activism is not an endless supply of energy.

🌱 If we want people to participate in long-term change, we also need to think about:
How do we stay engaged without burning out?
How do movements keep people involved?
How do we make space for different abilities and forms of participation?
How do we build resilience and care into collective action?

Social change rarely happens through one heroic individual. It often happens through many people doing different things.
Some organise. Some communicate. Some create art. Some research. Some protest. Some build alternatives. Some care for the people doing the work.

💡 This is why political agency is also about recognising our own possibilities and limits. You don't have to do everything. You don't even have to participate in the same way as everyone else. The important question can be: Where can I contribute - and who can I contribute with?

🌍 Joanna Macy’s idea of The Great Turning offers one useful way of thinking about this: transformation can involve resisting harmful systems, creating life-sustaining alternatives, and changing the ways we see ourselves and the world. The approaches don't have to compete. They can reinforce one another.

💭 Reflection:
Think of a cause you care about.
What is one form of action that fits you? And what is one form of action you could try together with others? Political agency begins when we realise that change is not something that simply happens to us: we can participate in shaping it.

♀️♂️✨ YOUTH EXCHANGE | GENDER & DIFFERENT ABILITIES ✨♿️

How do we create spaces where young people with and without disabilities genuinely connect — not just share a room? And how do we talk about gender, relationships and self-awareness in a way that includes everyone? 👀

This youth exchange, hosted by our friends at Lunaria , brings together a heterogeneous group of young people to explore exactly that in the beautiful setting of La Buona Terra, in the hills above Lake Trasimeno 🇮🇹

Together you'll:
🌈 Promote exchange, understanding and intercultural learning
💡 Raise awareness around the idea of "different abilities"
🛠️ Work on gender-sensitive issues using tools developed in the earlier training course
🤝 Build real interaction between young people with and without disabilities

The bigger goal: new approaches, tools and activities that actively promote the participation of young people with intellectual disabilities in short-term mobility projects — and stronger cooperation between local and European organisations working in this field, laying the ground for future actions together 🌍

Continuing our journey with Political Agency, let’s challenge one common idea:

💡 There is only one way to participate in politics.
Voting matters.
Protesting matters.
But political agency can take many other forms too.
🎭 Theatre of the Oppressed uses theatre to explore situations of oppression and rehearse possibilities for change.
🚲 Local mobilisation can bring together enough people to influence decisions about transport, public space, housing or the environment.
🌱 Community initiatives can create alternatives instead of waiting for institutions to act.
📢 Social movements can shift public debate and make previously ignored issues impossible to ignore.
And sometimes, different approaches work together.

💭 Think about a sustainability issue in your community.
Maybe it is transport. Housing. Food. Energy. Public space.
Who are the people already involved?
Who has formal power?
Who has knowledge and resources?
Who has the ability to mobilise others?
Who is currently missing from the conversation?
Political agency is not necessarily about having power already. It can be about building power with others.

🌱 (t)s4Future - the final chapter 🌱

In the final days, we put our heads, hearts and ideas together one last time to create the final outputs of the project. Working in teams, we transformed everything we had learned, discussed and experienced into something of our own. We can’t wait to share these creations with you in the months to come - so stay tuned! 👀🌿

But before saying goodbye, we had one last special evening together: our Plan(t)s4Future Gala Night ✨ Dressed up, celebrating and surrounded by all the people who had become such an important part of this journey, we premiered our outputs and looked back at everything we had created together.

And then came our final night. One last bonfire, one last circle around the fire, music playing, stories being shared, laughter filling the air 🔥🎶

There were hugs that lasted a little longer than usual. There were tears. There were promises to stay in touch. And there were those bittersweet goodbyes that remind you just how much a few days together can mean.

The next morning, we packed our bags and travelled home; carrying with us new ideas, new memories, new friendships, and a little piece of this exchange in our hearts. 🌱💚

✊🏾✨ CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS | REIMAGINING INCLUSION ✨✊🏾

Capacity Building for Transformative Youth Work — Part 1

This November, Switzerland is bringing people together to share methods, knowledge and strategies for reimagining inclusion — in daily life and in work with young people 🌍

Because "inclusion" and "diversity" have become words we say a lot, but what do they actually mean when we look at the wider picture? At the interconnected systems of oppression that exclude and discriminate in the first place? 👀

This training looks at inclusion through a current, intersectional lens and invites us to challenge what we think we already know 💥

Over the week, you will:
🧠 Get familiar with the core concepts of inclusion, identity and intersectionality
🔍 Explore power dynamics, structural violence and the lessons hidden in unjust systems
🌱 Turn that understanding into hopeful, practical futures for your youth work
🎲 Learn by doing and playing — participatory, creative, non-formal methods throughout

And this is more than a seminar room — it's a week of living as a community 🏡
🥕 Meals are shared and vegan — a practical and ideological choice
🧹 Cooking and cleaning are done together, in simple communal living
🌲 A forest and a little stream are right nearby
💜 The space is built to be brave and safer, around the needs and diverse identities of everyone in the room

🌍 We’re starting a new month of our GreenComp Year within the international SAGE – Sustainable Actions through Green Education project.

🌱 This time we focus on Political Agency - the first competence within the GreenComp area “Acting for Sustainability.”
Political agency is about something bigger than voting or taking part in formal politics.
It is about our capacity to influence the world around us.

💡 We can ask:
Who gets to make decisions? How can we influence those decisions? What can we do when existing systems are not responding? What power do we have to create change?

🌍 Political agency can take many forms, some examples are:
Voting and participating in democratic processes; organising with others; joining social movements; participating in local decision-making; using theatre, art and culture to raise awareness; creating alternatives in our communities; speaking up, building alliances and changing conversations.
Sometimes political action happens outside official political institutions. A community garden can be political. A cooperative can be political. A protest can be political.
Living differently and organising with others can also be a way of saying: another way is possible.

💭 Reflection:
Think of one change that has happened in your community.
Who made it happen?
What forms of participation were involved?
What made their action effective?
Political agency starts with recognising that we are not only spectators of change.
We can be part of making it happen.

🌱✨ Another glimpse into our Youth Exchange Plan(t)s4Future! 🤩🌍

The middle part of our exchange was packed with inspiring activities, new perspectives, and plenty of opportunities to learn together! 💚

📖 Using the skim-reading method, we explored "The Nation of Plants” by Stefano Mancuso and discovered fascinating perspectives on how plants can teach us to rethink our relationship with the world around us. 🌿📚

🪴 We then got our hands dirty and created our very own terrariums - bringing a little piece of nature to life and learning more about the delicate connections within ecosystems. 🌱💧

🥾 During Gaia’s Walk, we explored the beautiful surroundings of Rödental, reconnecting with nature and reflecting on our place within the living world. 🌳🍃

🌎 We also dug deeper into the interconnections of our planet through the Climate Fresk. Working together, we explored the causes and consequences of climate change and, most importantly, discussed how we can contribute to a more sustainable future. 💡🌍🤝

🎉 And, of course, no youth exchange would be complete without an Intercultural Night! 🌍🍴🎶 We shared food, music, traditions, laughter, and stories from our different countries and cultures ❤️

☀️ The following free day gave everyone the chance to recharge and explore Coburg. Many participants took the opportunity to discover its fascinating historical sites, wander through the city, and enjoy some time together outside the programme 🏰🚶‍♀️📸

So many moments, conversations, and experiences — all connected by one common goal: learning from each other and working towards a greener, more sustainable future🌱💚🌍

Last week we kicked-off our Plan(t)s4Future Youth Exchange in Rödental (Germany)!

Already the first day was packed with activities! 🌱✨ We had great icebreakers to get to know each other right from day one, and participants showed off their hidden talents in drawing and singing surrounded by nature. 🎨🎤💃🌿

🤝 The second day was the day of Trust.
During our day, we learned to rely on one another throughout different activities.

🌟 We created our anthem, logo, choregragy, handshake... and had a beautiful time connecting in the plant for Future community.
🫰 The second activity of the morning was about to estabilice common ground of how to better live together.
The afternoon activities we had some creative way to build trust using different kind of communication.
🌆 To finish our day, we had a quiet moment to create cities made of clay and forest material, in order to reflect about migration.

🌱 Exploratory Thinking is not only about generating ideas.
It is also about having the courage to test them.
The GreenComp framework highlights the importance of experimentation, creativity, and learning through action. When facing sustainability challenges, we cannot always know in advance what will work. Sometimes we need to prototype, learn, adapt, and try again.💡 This is the mindset behind approaches such as Design Thinking and Circular Economy.

Instead of asking:
❌ How do we make slightly less waste?
We can ask:
♻️ How do we design systems where waste becomes a resource?

Instead of focusing only on recycling, we can explore the broader 5 Rs:
🌱 Refuse 🌱 Reduce 🌱 Reuse 🌱 Repair 🌱 Recycle

Interestingly, recycling is often the last option, not the first.
Around the world, communities are already experimenting with new possibilities:
🛠️ Repair cafés
🤝 Sharing libraries
💱 Local exchange systems and community currencies
🌿 Composting initiatives
♻️ Circular businesses that keep materials in use for longer

These are small signs that another future is already emerging.
Joanna Macy calls this process The Great Turning — the transition from an extractive society toward a life-sustaining one.

💭 Reflection exercise:
Look around your community.
Where can you already see examples of The Great Turning?
What experiment, however small, could you start or support?
You don't need a perfect solution to begin.
Exploratory Thinking starts with curiosity, action, and the willingness to learn.
