In Belarus, more than 800 political prisoners are still being held in conditions that violate human rights. Brutal arrests, physical and psychological violence, and the curtailment of their rights are, unfortunately, not uncommon in the regime’s detention facilities.
Show your solidarity and join us in calling for the immediate release of all political prisoners in Belarus!

When: Friday, June 26, 2026
Time: 6:00–7:00 p.m.
Location: Züghusplatz, Zurich (near Paradeplatz)
The vigils take place regularly and are organized in cooperation with Libereco, RAZAM, ACAT-Suisse Schweiz Svizzera , Campax , and Amnesty International Amnesty Schweiz

The first big event of our Donation Campaign "I CAN - for Ukraine" was the 3. European Somatic Experiencing Conference in Prague. With the support of our colleagues from Somatic Experiencing Deutschland, Somatic Experiencing Czech Republic and the Humanitarian Committee of Somatic Experiencing International we raised 4000 € in three days.

And Peter Levine Peter A Levine, PhD , the founder of Somatic Experiencing recommended our Comic Manual "I Can! How to Cope with Stress, Overcome Challenges, and Handle Conflict" as a very good book!

With our Donation Campaign "I CAN - for Ukraine", we support somatic MHPSS programmes for people affected by the war in Ukraine. Your donation helps activists, helping professionals, caregivers and young people build resilience, find moments of safety and connection, and recover from the impact of trauma.

Support one helper, and they will pass that support on to dozens or even hundreds of others.

What does it mean to watch violence and injustice unfold in your home country while living far away?

Join us for a screening of “NATAЛЛЯ” (“NATALLIA”) , a short film about a Belarusian woman navigating life in Berlin while her family remains in Belarus during the election fraud 2020 in Belarus, followed by a Q&A with the director and protagonists, and a postcard-writing action for political prisoners.
After the film, there will be a Q&A with director Anastasia Sytschew and the protagonists.
We will then come together for a postcard-writing action in support of political prisoners in Belarus. All materials, addresses and translation support will be provided.

Today, on Journalists’ Day in Ukraine, we stand with journalists who have been imprisoned for their work.

Russia is among the countries with the highest number of imprisoned journalists in the world. Many face charges such as “espionage,” “extremism,” or “terrorism” — charges that human rights organizations describe as politically motivated and fabricated.

Across occupied territories and inside Russia, Ukrainian journalists are being silenced through arrests, fabricated charges, and imprisonment.

We remember those who have been killed and stand in solidarity with those who remain behind bars. Journalism is not a crime. Telling the truth should never cost a person their freedom.

We are launching our donation campaign, I CAN – for Ukraine, to support somatic MHPSS programmes for people affected by the war in Ukraine.

Your donation directly supports civil society activists, helping professionals, caregivers, and young people. It helps activists and professionals become more resilient, enables caregivers to respond with curiosity and compassion, and creates moments of safety, connection, and healing for young people.

For people deeply affected by trauma, it offers a real chance to recover from what they have experienced.
Support one helper, and they will pass that support on to dozens or even hundreds of others.
Support them through Somatic Experiencing and watch your impact grow.

The human rights situation in Belarus remains catastrophic. According to the human rights centre , 839 people are currently unjustly imprisoned for political reasons.

Together with Amnesty International and the Foundation for a Peaceful Revolution, we invite you to an evening dedicated to political prisoners in Belarus.

Our guest speaker will be translator and former political prisoner Siarhei Paulavitski. After the discussion, we will write letters to political prisoners in Belarus. All materials will be provided, and letters can be translated if needed.

May with the LIBERECO team 💙

This month, we met with new and long-time our members in Utrecht to work on our campaign, explore the city together, and enjoy local food.

Our colleague Ira Ganzhorn spoke at panel discussions in Munich and Augsburg about life in Ukraine during the fifth year of Russia’s full-scale war and the realities people continue to face every day.

Meanwhile, LIBERECO Switzerland joined a solidarity action for Belarusian political prisoners in Zurich, and part of our team attended the “Without Just Cause” conference in Vilnius focused on political repression and human rights.

Back in Berlin, we organised a tote bag workshop using the traditional Ukrainian “Vybijka” printing technique to mark the anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars.

Thank you to everyone who was with us this month — in conversations, at protests, workshops, and community events. Solidarity continues through people 💛

For many children in Ukraine, “normal” childhood today means nights in bomb shelters, online classes from basements, constant air raid alerts, displacement, and ongoing stress.

On International Children’s Day, join our online discussion on children’s rights during war.
