Camp for Single Women in Romania
Never alone. Always cherished. Always in His care.
From August 19 to 24, 2026, the Women’s Ministries Department (WM) of the Romanian Union organized a camp for single women in a fairy-tale setting in Sovata, in the heart of Transylvania. These days were designed as a respite for the soul, featuring fellowship and reflection, support and friendship, a Sabbath spent in nature, but above all, time with God. Under the motto “Never alone. Always cherished. Always in His care,” the participants embarked on a journey that touches on profound realities of life: identity, loss and healing, healthy relationships, meaning, and hope.
Facilitated by Simona Anca, an educational psychologist, Viorica Avrămiea, Single Volunteer Coordinator, and Liliana Radu, WM Director, the program for each day was packed with spiritual messages, learning sessions, fun activities, and excursions into nature.
The first evening was not just about learning each other’s names. It was about discovering the stories behind those names and the lessons gathered over a lifetime. The message was: You may go through times when you walk alone, but in God’s eyes, you are never alone. You are cherished.
The second day’s focus was on discovering our identity. Who am I beyond my roles? Who am I when, for a few moments, I set aside everything I do? What part of myself have I left behind to care for others? We spoke about shelter, rest, peace, and quiet. About the need to have a safe place where one can stop running and fighting. Sovata offered a wonderful setting for walking along trails, admiring nature, breathing in the forest air, and enjoying the beauty all around us. And it seemed as though the theme of the day continued there as well. Nature doesn’t strive to prove that it is beautiful. A tree doesn’t try to be another tree. A flower doesn’t compare itself to the one next to it. Each exists in the place where God has placed it. At the end of the day, all the thoughts, questions, drawings, stories, prayers, and encounters came together in one simple statement: I AM VALUED.
The third day concentrated on accepting Life’s seasons and changes. It was a day for discovering that we can lose something without losing ourselves. Perhaps one of life’s most difficult lessons is to understand that God is present in all our seasons. Even in the one we didn’t choose. In the one we don’t yet understand. In the one where we must learn to live differently from what we had imagined, but always in God’s care.
The Sabbath at camp was one of those moments when God spoke to us through His Word, through people, through the beauty of nature, and through the simple joy of being together. For a few hours, the forest became a true sanctuary. The shade of the trees, the intense greenery, and the contemplative silence set the stage for a special time of worship. Songs of praise to God mingled with the chirping of birds, and, far from the usual noise of life, we had time to listen—to listen to one another, to listen to our souls, and, above all, to listen to God.
God’s everlasting love and his promises became tangible. “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10 NIV). Mountains may move. People may leave. Circumstances may change. But His love remains.
We came from different places and with different stories. We left on the last day with shared memories—and perhaps some of them made a little richer by the others. We thank God for every day, for every lesson, for every person, for every prayer, for the laughter and the tears, for the friendships formed here, and for the way He reminded us, once again, that He remains with us. And as we part ways, there could be no more fitting thought: “I will never leave you; I will never forsake you.”
