A Special Sabbath in Niscemi, Sicily
Women of Faith, Not Fear

On Sabbath, May 16, the church in Niscemi was filled with shades of fuchsia thanks to an initiative organized by the Women’s Ministries department (WM). It was a truly special day centered on the theme: “Women of Faith, Not Fear.”

The sermon was presented by Eliana Di Marco, Women’s Ministries Director for Sicily. With empathy and excellent communication skills, she engaged church members and the many guests in attendance, encouraging them to reflect on how to overcome anxiety, fears, and everyday worries by trusting in Jesus’ guidance.

After sharing lunch in a spirit of fellowship, the afternoon program continued with a theoretical and practical seminar entitled “How to Regulate Your Emotions to Become the Person You Want to Be.” Dr. Giorgio Iacono, psychologist and trainer, presented the topic clearly and engagingly. Through targeted activities and group work, he helped participants better understand their emotional world and develop practical skills for managing it effectively.

The meeting concluded with thanks to the Lord for His blessings and to our guests for providing such a rich opportunity for both spiritual and personal growth.

Online Workshops in Italy
A Year of Meetings, Reflection, and Meaningful Connections

The Women’s Ministries (WM) online workshops, monthly gatherings designed to support women’s personal and spiritual growth, are celebrating their first anniversary.
“June marks an important milestone for our online workshops. We are celebrating the first birthday of this initiative!” explains Pastor Abigaela Trofin, National Coordinator of Women’s Ministries in Italy. “Launched last year to create a new space for connection, this experience has grown and evolved over the past twelve months, bringing us great satisfaction and many blessings.”
Looking Back
Pastor Trofin highlights two key aspects that have characterized “this first year of our journey together.”
1. From an Adult Audience to Young Women: A Community Renewed
The most significant development has been the evolution of participants. While the workshops initially attracted mainly adult women, month after month, a beautiful generational transition took place, and the presence of younger women became increasingly central. This renewal brought fresh energy, new perspectives, and original insights, creating an extraordinary blend. Alongside the core group of loyal participants who have attended from the beginning, many new women joined and enriched our community.
2. More Space for Dialogue: The Strength of the Workshop Format
While traditional seminars primarily offer opportunities for listening, the success of this initiative lies in its workshop format. The interactive structure breaks down the barriers of the screen and encourages active participation. Participants are not merely spectators but co-creators of the experience. The opportunity to engage in dialogue, exchange ideas openly, and share real-life experiences has transformed each online gathering into a vibrant, interactive, and deeply engaging space.
Voices from the Experience
“Twelve months ago, we began this journey, each of us in front of our own screen, yet connected by an invisible and powerful thread,” says Eliana Di Marco, Women’s Ministries Director for Sicily. “Meeting after meeting, we overcame distances, created a sacred space for listening, and embraced vulnerability as a gift. Thank you to each of you, wonderful women, for bringing your light, your truth, and your courage into this circle.”
“The women who participated in the online workshops described them as a gift for both spiritual and personal growth,” adds Pastor Rebecca Gaisie, Women’s Ministries Director for Southern Italy. “They provided precious time that helped participants gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their needs.”
“It has been a year of meetings, reflection, and genuine connections,” emphasizes Monica Carozzi, Women’s Ministries Director for Northern Italy. “Twelve months spent rediscovering our freedom, our voice, and our value, guided by God’s Word and by the desire to grow together. Thank you to all the women who embraced the challenge, supported one another, and shared their experiences.”
The Workshops Continue
The series will continue throughout the summer. Monica Benini, Women’s Ministries Director for Central Italy, designed the promotional flyer and organized the schedule into groups of four sessions.
The next workshops will take place online on the last Wednesday of each month at 8:00 p.m. Participants can join via Google Meet. The series continues on June 24.

Upcoming Schedule
June 24 – Monica Carozzi: “Biblical Principles in Finance. Is Being Rich a Sin? Is Being Poor a Punishment?”
July 29 – Gracy Cuntrò: “Free to Be: The Courage to Be Authentic”
August 26 – Abigaela Trofin: “Women’s Voices: Inspiration, Innovation, and Impact”
September 30 – Deborah De Michele: “Alone in a Hyperconnected World: Analyzing the Phenomenon Through the Lens of the Bible”
“Make this appointment with yourself—and with God. We look forward to seeing you!” is the invitation extended by the National Coordinator of Women’s Ministries.

An Afternoon of Joy in Lentini, Sicily
Hands in the Dough, Hearts Full

There is a kind of happiness that cannot be fully explained with words, yet it is instantly recognizable. It carries the scent of flour in the air, the sound of shared laughter, and the simplicity of age-old gestures coming to life once again through willing hands.

That was the atmosphere on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 21, at the church in Lentini, where the Women’s Ministries group gathered for a special event. The meeting transformed a familiar space into a small workshop of life, relationships, and beauty.

From the very beginning, there was a feeling that this was something different from the usual gathering. It was not a formal event, but an invitation to experience something genuine together. The idea behind the afternoon was both simple and powerful: happiness is often born from the humblest things—a pastry board, a ball of dough, and hands working side by side.

Amid smiles and curiosity, participants quickly found themselves immersed in a hands-on experience where everyone could take part, experiment, and get their hands messy without hesitation. The flour became more than just an ingredient; it was almost a shared language, a way to break down barriers, build connections, and rediscover the value of working together.

As the dough gradually took shape beneath each participant’s patient and imperfect efforts, something deeper emerged—the beauty of shared time. There was no rush and no competition, only presence. And within that simplicity, an authentic joy appeared, one that needed no further explanation.

The afternoon also became an opportunity to reflect, in a natural and lighthearted way, on the value of small daily actions. Just as pasta requires care, time, and attention to become something good, so life grows through patience, gratitude, and the ability to nurture what may seem simple but is truly essential.

Between laughter, hands covered with flour, and spontaneous conversations, a profound sense of community emerged. It was more than a group of people gathering together; it was women meeting, listening to, and supporting one another, rediscovering the pleasure of being together without pretense.

One of the most meaningful moments came at the end of the event. Each participant returned home with the pasta she had made with her own hands. It was a simple gesture, yet rich in meaning. Along with the food, everyone carried home an experience, a memory, and a tangible reminder of what can be created when time and hearts are shared.

Many left the room smiling, as people do after experiencing something rare in its simplicity—something that cannot be bought or easily planned: the joy of belonging to a shared story.

True richness is not found in extraordinary things, but in ordinary moments lived with love. That is the lasting message of the afternoon spent together in Lentini—a quiet yet powerful certainty. And perhaps it was there, between a handful of flour and a shared batch of dough, that happiness revealed its truest face.

Women’s Ministries Emphasis Day 2026
Women's Sabbath Service

Women's Ministries Emphasis Day is on the Seventh-day Adventist Church's Calendar of Days and Events and falls on the second Sabbath each June. It is an opportunity for women to lead in a worship service and to educate the church about the purposes of Women's Ministries. It is an ideal time to introduce your WM leaders to the church family and to invite women who have not been involved to join.

Resources for this purpose are available through the Conference Women's Ministries director and from https://eudwomen.org/special-days/womens-ministries-day in many languages.

The material for this year’s Emphasis Day was prepared by the Women’s Ministries Department of the Romanian Union. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lili Radu and her team for providing such thoughtful and inspiring content.

The sermon was written by Viorica Avrămiea, who serves as the coordinator for Single Women in the Romanian Union and is deeply committed to this ministry. Through her message, we will gain fresh insights into two very different women in the Bible and the lessons their lives offer us today.

The seminar was prepared by Elena Petrescu, who holds a PhD in literature.
Her contribution offers valuable perspectives and reaffirms once again that God calls us to His service.

The material prepared by the General Conference is also available in many languages. The resource packet for the topic “Hinneni, here I am” was written by Mary Ellen Winegardner.

News from Women’s Ministries in the Banat Conference
Prayers Uttered Through Tears
In the Banat Conference, women’s hearts continue to beat strongly for prayer—that secret place where the soul pours out its pain, hope, and longing before God.
The theme “He turns tears into stars” once again brought comfort to the Salem Arad and Micalaca Arad communities during programs dedicated to the International Day of Prayer. In Salem, the gathering took place on March 16, and in Micalaca on May 16, in an atmosphere filled with a sense of closeness to Heaven.
The message conveyed spoke of prayers uttered through tears—those prayers that people may not always hear or understand, but which are seen and treasured by our loving God. Every sigh, every restless night, every prayer whispered in silence is known to Him. God does not remain indifferent to the sufferings of His children, but transforms the tears of faith into stars of hope and victory.
On this occasion, the women found themselves in this message, understanding once again that Heaven hears sincere prayers and that no tear brought before God is forgotten. Such gatherings remind us of how much power there is in a heart that prays and how beautifully God works when women choose to draw near to Him with trust.

Madrid Adventist Church Partnership: Faith and Community
Women's Ministry organizes mentoring of new members

On Sabbath, May 23, the Alenza Madrid Church held the second meeting of its Madrid Adventist Church Mentoring Program. This project, spearheaded by the Alenza Women’s Ministry (MAR), pairs newly baptized members with mentors who accompany them in their first steps of faith.

THE ORIGINS OF MENTORING IN THE ADVENTIST CHURCH
This practice dates back to the 2nd century A.D. At that time, new converts were entrusted to the care of a Christian of proven faith. Being a Christian was illegal, so these godfathers and godmothers acted as spiritual mentors and witnesses to the faith. Thus, the faith was passed on from person to person through closeness and daily example.

BEGINNING AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROJECT
The sponsorship project began in June 2024 with 11 baptized members. Throughout 2025, 27 more people joined. Additionally, in April of this year, 6 new members were baptized. Therefore, there are currently 44 baptized members paired with their sponsors. Each sponsor accompanies their sponsored member through prayer, conversation, and presence. It is hoped that this initiative will continue to grow and be a source of blessing for the entire congregation.

UNITY AND FELLOWSHIP IN ALENZA
The Alenza Youth Hall hosted this celebration of unity. In total, nearly 80 guests participated. First, they enjoyed a fellowship meal, and then they shared a pleasant afternoon in fellowship. All of this reflected the spirit of the early church, as described in Acts 2:42(NIV): “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”

These kinds of gatherings strengthen the bonds within the community. For this reason, MAR will continue to organize activities that promote spiritual accompaniment among its members.
