Shoes Tell Stories
Women's Breakfast in Freudenstadt, Germany

What do high heels, hiking boots, winter boots, and sandals have in common? They accompany us on very different journeys. And sometimes, they tell us more about our lives than we might initially imagine. At the Women's Breakfast in Freudenstadt, shoes became a symbol of the different paths we take in life and an invitation to approach others with understanding and to trust in God's guidance with every step we take.

After the long summer break, the women of Freudenstadt gathered again on October 25 for their traditional Women's Breakfast. Outside, the weather was stormy and rainy, while inside, the focus was on a topic that may seem rather ordinary at first but has surprisingly much to do with our lives and faith: shoes.

Just as our shoes differ, so do the paths we take in life. Some stretches are easy and carefree, while others require perseverance and sturdy footwear. Sometimes we stumble, take detours, or suddenly find ourselves at a dead end. And we don't always know where the next step will lead us. The good news is that we don't have to walk these paths alone. God walks with us, gives us stability, lifts us up when we fall, and continually invites us to make a fresh start.

Shoes also play a remarkable role in the Bible. Moses is told to take off his sandals before the burning bush as a sign of reverence for God's presence. In the story of the prodigal son, shoes are among the symbols of his restored dignity and belonging. And in the book of Ephesians, we are encouraged to have our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

Alongside these biblical reflections, various sayings prompted the women to think more deeply. One particularly meaningful reminder was not to judge others too quickly: "Never judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes."

We often see only the steps someone is taking, but not the paths they have already traveled. Perhaps we would understand certain things differently if we knew the stories behind them. What began as an unusual topic thus became a practical and meaningful invitation: to become more aware of our own journey, to treat others with greater understanding, and to trust God even when the road ahead is not yet clear.

Farewell and New Beginnings
Leadership Transition in Bavaria

Sometimes farewells and new beginnings are closer together than we might think. This was the case in the Women's Ministries Department in Bavaria, where a change in leadership took place on October 1, 2026.
Lydia Lukic led the Women's Ministries Department in Bavaria since July 2020. For more than six years, she served women and their needs with great compassion, dedication, and personal commitment. She created opportunities for women to come together, nurtured relationships, and provided spaces where women could experience fellowship, deepen their faith, and find encouragement.
On September 30, 2026, Lydia stepped down from her leadership role and transitioned into active retirement. This new chapter of life will hopefully offer plenty of time and space for all the things that sometimes have to take a back seat during working life.
Dear Lydia, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your dedication, your time, your ideas, and all that you have accomplished over the years. Above all, thank you for the many people you have encouraged and supported, and for the lasting impact of your commitment.
On October 1, 2026, Yvonne Hummel took over the leadership of the Women's Ministries Department in Bavaria. We are delighted to welcome her into this new role!
Dear Yvonne, we wish you joy in your new responsibilities, open doors, meaningful encounters, and people by your side with whom you can develop and bring ideas to life. May you continually experience God's strength and guidance as you take on this new challenge.
The leadership transition was celebrated in a warm and heartfelt atmosphere during the Women's Weekend in Ellwangen in mid-October. It was a wonderful opportunity to express gratitude, share memories, and look forward with anticipation to what lies ahead. After all, a leadership transition is about more than simply passing on responsibilities. It connects what has already grown and flourished with all that is yet to come.
We wish both Lydia and Yvonne wisdom in their decisions, confidence for whatever lies ahead, and God's abundant blessings as they continue on their respective journeys. May He accompany, strengthen, and continually bless them in their different seasons of life. Some things come to an end, while others begin. What remains are the encounters we have shared, the lasting impact we leave behind, and the trust that God continues to walk with us on new paths.

In the Rhythm of Life
Women's Weekend in Ellwangen, Germany

During the Women's Weekend Retreat in Ellwangen, participants discovered how closely the natural rhythms of our bodies, a mindful lifestyle, and God's vision for creation are connected – and how saying goodbye and embracing new beginnings are also part of the rhythm of life.
Our lives are shaped by many rhythms: day and night, activity and rest, tension and relaxation. Yet how often do we fall out of rhythm because everyday life demands more of us than is good for us? And what does our body actually need to stay healthy and balanced?
The participants explored these questions during the Women's Weekend held in October 2026 at the Schöneberg Conference Center in Ellwangen. Under the theme "In the Rhythm of Life," Dr. Daniela Hudi, a physician specializing in hormone therapy at a clinic in Bad Aibling, took the women on a fascinating journey through the natural rhythms of the human body.
It became clear just how closely physical health, emotional well-being, and lifestyle are interconnected. Particular attention was given to the sleep-wake cycle. Our internal clock regulates numerous hormonal and physical processes. Sleep, therefore, is much more than simply a necessary break. It is essential for recovery, health, and the ability to perform at our best. As we grow older, we often become more aware of the effects of ignoring our body's needs over an extended period of time.
Daniela Hudi skillfully explained medical concepts in an accessible way and connected them with the biblical understanding of creation. Rhythms are woven into the creation story itself: day and night, seasons of growth and rest. The Sabbath, too, reminds us that our lives are not meant to be governed solely by productivity and activity. Rest is not a luxury; it has been part of God's good design for humanity from the very beginning.

Another important theme ran throughout the weekend: our bodies and our lives are gifts that we are called to care for responsibly and lovingly. This means recognizing our own limits, reexamining our habits, and giving ourselves the same care and attention that we so readily offer to others.
The different seasons and rhythms of life also became very personal during the weekend. After many years of dedicated service, Lydia Lukic said farewell as she retired from her role as Women's Ministries Department Director in Bavaria. At the same time, Yvonne Hummel was warmly welcomed as her successor, having taken over the position on October 1, 2026. A farewell and a new beginning – two different stages of life, each bringing its own opportunities and challenges.
The weekend thus became more than an opportunity to learn about our bodies. It was also an invitation to become more aware of our own rhythms of life. The point, then, is not to keep going at the same pace all the time. Rather, it is about finding our own rhythm, embracing change, and trusting that every season of life has its own time and value. Not every season of life calls for the same pace. Sometimes the art lies in rediscovering our own rhythm and trusting that God walks alongside us, even through times of change.

Health Camp in Argeș County, Romania
AIRPLANE MODE. Give Life Meaning!

When was the last time you pressed “pause” to take care of yourself, too?
From September 1–6, 2026, the “AIRPLANE MODE. Give Life Meaning!” Health Camp took place at the Sătic Youth Center in Argeș County, Romania. Organized by the Women’s Ministries Department of the Muntenia Conference, in collaboration with the Health Ministries Departments of the Muntenia and Oltenia Conferences, the camp provided an opportunity to reconnect with what truly matters: health, relationships, and making meaningful use of our time.
The program included medical screenings and tests, healthy eating and cooking workshops, therapeutic exercise, hiking, seminars, counseling, and relaxation massage. Music, family activities, competitions, and a campfire rounded out the six days dedicated to caring for both body and soul.
The following professionals contributed their expertise: Laura Janeta Fierbințeanu, clinical psychologist and psychotherapist; Dr. Sandra Corina Nedelcu, physician and licensed dietitian; and Nicoleta Cârstea, biologist, nutrition counselor, and cooking workshop coordinator.
On Friday evening, Dr. Mihai Botezat presented a neurology seminar, while Dr. Gabriel Paraschiv performed ultrasound examinations and helped lead a “Health Talk,” further enriching the camp’s health education program. Musical guests included the members of Trio Joyfull, winners of First Prize at the 2026 “I Sing for You” Festival.
Although the camp ended in September, its message remains just as relevant today. As women, we often find time to meet everyone else’s needs, while taking care of our own health ends up at the bottom of the list. We deserve to make it a priority every day: through rest, exercise, a healthy meal, or an unhurried conversation.
For a few moments, put your worries on “Airplane Mode.” Breathe. Listen to your loved ones. Make room for the things that give life meaning.

National Women’s Forum: “Her Story – Next”
Women Unite in Faith and Sisterhood in Bulgaria

Around 160 women gathered in Tryavna, Bulgaria, for the second edition of the National Women's Forum, “Her Story: next à”, organised by the Women's Ministries Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bulgaria. Held from 23 to 25 October, the event welcomed participants from across the country, as well as guests from Austria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Building on the experience of the first edition, this year's forum brought together women of different generations and backgrounds, with a particularly encouraging increase in the number of younger participants. The weekend created a welcoming space where women could share their experiences, strengthen friendships, reflect on their journeys of faith and discover how God continues to work through their personal stories.

Among the participants was Dagmar Dorn, Women's Ministries Director of the Inter-European Division (EUD), who also contributed to the programme as a guest speaker, sharing her own story. Reflecting on the weekend, she expressed her appreciation for the warm atmosphere of fellowship and sisterhood that brought women together.

Every Story Matters

The programme featured three main sessions exploring different dimensions of women's lives and faith. Dagmar Dorn opened the forum on Friday evening with a presentation addressing the challenges and expectations surrounding womanhood and singleness. As part of the Sabbath service, Dimka Markova continued with a reflection on the multiple roles and complex decisions women carry. Margarita Dobreva explored the experience of being a woman of faith, telling part of her life story as a mother – faith survivor in some of life’s most difficult situations she has gone through.

Through personal testimonies, honest conversations, worship and shared experiences, participants were reminded that every woman's story matters—and that even the difficult chapters can become sources of encouragement and hope for others.

A special gala evening on Saturday highlighted the connection between individual experiences and the shared journey of women in faith.

The Power of Praying Together

One of the most meaningful aspects of the weekend took place on Saturday and Sunday morning, when more than 30 women gathered each day for a special time of prayer. These meetings became a powerful expression of the spiritual community that the forum sought to nurture.

"It feels so much different and encouraging when you enter the room early in the morning and you see 30 women already on their knees praying together - praising God and interceding for one another," shared Bilyana Valchinova, Bulgarian Women Ministries Director

These moments reflected one of the central messages of the forum: women do not have to walk through life's challenges alone. Faith becomes stronger when it is shared

Creativity, Reflection and Connection

Beyond the main sessions, participants had the opportunity to take part in three practical workshops designed to encourage personal reflection, creativity and spiritual growth. One of the workshops invited women to consider how they understand and tell their own stories, and how their lives fit into the greater story of God's redemption.

In a different workshop the participants explored their emotions through the book of Psalms - a space to reflect on feelings that are sometimes difficult to express and to discover how Scripture gives language to both struggle and hope.

A creative art workshop encouraged participants to try beautiful landscape painting as a form of personal expression.

A Community That Continues Beyond the Forum

While the programme offered inspiring presentations and meaningful activities, much of the forum's impact came through the encounters between women - the conversations over meals, the shared prayers, the personal testimonies and the simple experience of being heard and understood.

Women’s Sabbath in the South Slavic Church in Vienna, Austria
Finding Peace in God Amid the Busyness of Everyday Life

On October 17, 2026, we were blessed with a truly special Women’s Sabbath at the South Slavic Seventh-day Adventist Church. Under the theme “How Can a Busy Woman Find Inner Peace Through Prayer?”, we reflected on a subject that touches the hearts of so many women.

For this special worship service, we lovingly transformed the platform into a warm and welcoming home-like setting. It was meant to reflect a part of our everyday lives – lives often filled with responsibilities, expectations, endless tasks, and sometimes unspoken worries. Amid all these demands, we often forget to take a moment to rest and bring our burdens before God in prayer.

Through heartfelt spiritual reflections, personal examples, and shared activities, we hoped to touch hearts and remind everyone that God is especially close to us during life's most challenging moments.

What moved us most were the conversations that followed the worship service. Several women approached us and openly shared how deeply they had connected with the topics discussed. Their words revealed that we had touched on something many of us carry quietly within our hearts. These conversations reminded us how important it is to create a space where feelings and needs that are rarely spoken about in everyday life can be openly shared.

One of the greatest joys was seeing the entire congregation take part in the worship service. Although the Sabbath was dedicated to women, our brothers also participated wholeheartedly in the discussions and activities. This shared experience created a beautiful sense of togetherness and reminded us how precious it is to support and encourage one another in faith.

It was a Sabbath filled with warmth, encouragement, and spiritual closeness. We felt God's presence in a special way and witnessed how His Word can bring people together, open hearts, and inspire renewed hope.

For us, this Women’s Sabbath was more than just a special worship service. It was an encouragement to continue on this journey. The many heartfelt responses strengthened our desire to organize more spiritual and outreach activities in the future – gatherings where people can bring their personal experiences, questions, and hopes, and encounter the love of God.

What will remain especially close to our hearts from this Sabbath is the reminder that we are not alone in our worries and struggles. God knows our hearts, sees the burdens we often carry unseen, and lovingly invites us to find rest in Him.

For true peace begins when, amid the busyness of life, we pause and place our worries trustingly into God's hands.

Women’s Ministries Sabbath in Southern Italy
“God Needs You” was the theme of the event in Naples

On Sabbath, October 10, a Women’s Ministries (WM) gathering for churches in Southern Italy was held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Naples. Pastor Rebecca Gaisie, the WM field coordinator, organized the event. Speakers included Pastor Abigaela Trofin, national WM coordinator; Costantin Dinca, Southern Field director; and Samuele Barletta, pastor of the Naples district. The event was attended by Adventist congregations from Avellino, Cellole, Naples, Naples Ukrainian, and Pompeii.

The day began with congregational singing and the moving testimony of L. Ponticiello, who rediscovered and experienced God’s intervention in her life following highly delicate surgery in the hospital.

Pastor Gaisie then led small-group discussions on engaging topics featuring women of the Bible. The groups’ discussions generated considerable interest as participants explored friendship, selfless love, individual commitment, and the awareness that we are called to represent the “salt” and “light” of the earth. Special musical selections then helped prepare the congregation for the message that followed during the second part of the morning.

Pastor Trofin introduced the central theme of the day: breaking free from the expectations of a world that demands constant performance and leaves no room for weakness. It is a world that continually subjects us to the judgment of others, the fear of failure, performance anxiety, and the feeling that we are never good enough.

Pastor Trofin encouraged everyone to find support in prayer and faith to overcome fear. Her reflection was profound and moving as she addressed the importance of overcoming conflicts with our parents, becoming men and women of faith and prayer, and confronting the various forms of abuse we inevitably experience or sometimes unknowingly inflict on others—verbal, physical, psychological, and even spiritual abuse. Our God is a God of love, not violence! She encouraged everyone to overcome the anxieties that weigh on our minds, especially in interpersonal conflicts and family life. Finally, she urged us to cast out fear and replace it with reverence for God!

The Sabbath concluded with the realization that sanctification means trusting God completely, both in facing life and in facing death, especially when the Lord’s will does not align with our own. It is a difficult but necessary journey, enabling Christians to overcome their frustrations and finally find refuge and protection in the arms and under the wings of our “Great God of Love.”

52 Devotionals by Women for Women in German
Between Heaven and Everyday Life

Sometimes we encounter God in the very places we least expect. Not in life’s big, extraordinary moments, but right in the middle of everyday life. Between appointments and to-do lists, between laughter and tears, between the things that go well and the things that challenge us.

That is exactly what the new women’s devotional book “Zwischen Himmel und Alltag“, published by Advent-Verlag, is all about. It features 52 devotionals written by women for women—honest, personal, and relatable. These 52 personal, relatable devotionals written by women for women explore faith, doubt, challenges, and new beginnings—and invite readers to discover God’s presence in the midst of everyday life.

The authors invite us into their thoughts, experiences, and encounters with God. They share stories of joy and gratitude, doubt and disappointment, challenges, courageous decisions, and new beginnings. These stories are not told from a distance but emerge from the realities of their own lives. And that is precisely why they resonate with readers.

After all, so much of what they describe feels remarkably familiar. We see ourselves in their questions, recognize our own feelings, and discover how another woman’s experiences can suddenly open up a new perspective on our own lives.

These are not stories of perfect faith or attempts to offer quick answers to difficult questions. Instead, they explore what it means to make room for faith in everyday life—to trust in a God who wants to draw near to us, even when life is anything but easy. They invite us to pause, look again, and discover where heaven and everyday life meet.

Fifty-two devotionals—one for every week of the year. Fifty-two opportunities to pause, find inspiration, and perhaps see our own lives in a different light.

Women’s Ministries in A Coruña , Spain
Christmas Card-Making Workshop

On October 12, the Adventist church in A Coruña hosted a day filled with fellowship and inspiration: a Christmas card-making workshop featuring felt crafts. The church’s Women’s Ministries organized this educational and fellowship-building initiative. About ten women learned to make handmade cards for the upcoming Christmas season, an activity designed to strengthen relationships.

A DAY OF LEARNING AND SHARING
About ten women gathered for several hours to learn and share in a warm, sisterly atmosphere. Instructor Bego Guerrero led, planned, and taught the workshop, helping participants develop new practical skills. Throughout the day, they learned and applied the techniques needed to create their cards using felt as the primary material:
Designing patterns.
Choosing color combinations.
Cutting and assembling the pieces.
Creating detailed festive designs.

THE VALUE OF GIVING SOMETHING HANDMADE
This workshop is part of an annual program aimed at fostering and strengthening fellowship among women through group crafting activities. Beyond learning technical skills, these activities also emphasize the deeper meaning of giving handmade gifts to loved ones.

During the session, participants were reminded that giving a handmade gift means offering something truly unique that cannot be purchased in a store. Each creation is one of a kind, reflecting the time, patience, creativity, effort, and love invested by the person who makes it.

CARDS READY TO SHARE LOVE
The gathering concluded with dozens of completed cards, full of color and texture. They are now ready to be given as gifts, carrying messages of love and affection throughout the upcoming holiday season. In this way, the department achieved its goal: equipping participants with a creative skill while also providing a valuable opportunity to build connections and strengthen fellowship.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Women’s Ministries invited participants to attend the following upcoming events:
November: A workshop on making placemats and table runners, decorative pieces perfect for beautifying the table at family gatherings.
Christmas Cooking Class: Participants will prepare delicious vegetarian dishes to surprise family and friends with new and unexpected flavors.
