Ms. Pamela Odhiambo, President of the Nairobi Staff Union, together with Council members, hosted Dr. Nenna Ndukwe and Lucia Vinti from the Mental Health Strategy Team for a courtesy call at the Staff Union offices. The meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss mental health and staff well-being, and the need to increase awareness, reduce stigma and strengthen access to support. Going forward, we look forward to working closely with UNON Administration to promote greater awareness and develop practical initiatives that support the mental health and well-being of staff. We would like to see a workplace where mental health is openly discussed, support is accessible, and every colleague feels valued and cared for.

It was a privilege to attend the UNKLESA AGM as one of the guest speakers and to witness the important work they continue to do in supporting our colleagues. As a Council, we will continue to explore how we can contribute to and strengthen UNKLESA’s activities. We must never forget the sacrifices made by this remarkable group, many of whom have put their own careers on hold to support their spouses and families. Well done, UNKLESA, for your commitment, sacrifice and solidarity.

Nairobi Staff Union (NSU) colleagues, led by the President, Ms. Pamela Odhiambo, today held a constructive meeting with Mr. Marcos Zunino, Chief of the Office of Staff Legal Assistance (OSLA). The engagement focused on how best to strengthen staff support, particularly in ensuring that colleagues feel comfortable and adequately supported when seeking legal assistance and representation through OSLA.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of building trust, open communication and greater awareness among staff of the support available to them. NSU remains committed to promoting a workplace where staff feel confident in accessing the assistance they need.

Nairobi Staff Union Council members, led by Staff Union President Ms. Pamela Odhiambo, have today begun a two-day retreat to connect, reflect, and strengthen collaboration. The retreat provides a strong platform to strengthen staff union engagement and constructively address.matters concerning staff especially during the most difficult period in the organization

Today, the NSU President Ms. Pamela Odhiambo and Council members, together with Mr. Arnab Roy, UNON Director of Administration, had the opportunity to meet with the UN Controller, Mr. Chandramouli Ramanathan to discuss the current financial situation and its implications for staff. It was important for staff representatives to hear directly from the Controller, particularly amid concerns and rumours regarding job security and the future of the Organization. Open and transparent communication is essential during these uncertain times.

The NSU President Ms. Pamela Odhiambo and Council Members came together bid farewell to our 1st Vice President, Raymond Brandes, as he takes on new responsibilities at ECA. Raymond has been a dedicated and valued member of the Council, and his contributions will be greatly missed. Addis is gaining while Nairobi is losing NSU and its leadership wish him every success in this next chapter as he relocates from Nairobi to Addis.

We trust he will carry the NSU spirit with him and perhaps remember us when things get too quiet there!
