Think that Lifeline is for only people who live alone? Think again! Lifeline also gives couples greater freedom and peace of mind.

With Lifeline in place, a partner can leave the house feeling more confident that help is available if an emergency happens while they are not home. More confidence for both partners. More freedom to keep living life.

A Senior Resource Coordinator from a southern Manitoban community recently shared the story of a 90-year-old community member who suffered a serious fall in her garage. With no phone within reach, her Lifeline device gave her a voice, dispatched an ambulance and helped ensure she wasn’t left lying on the cold concrete for long.

After a month in hospital, she is now back home and sleeping in her own bed.

As the coordinator shared: “Because of Lifeline, she is home.” We’re incredibly grateful this story has a happy ending.

This week, the Victoria Lifeline team stepped out of the office and into the sunshine! We had the opportunity to sponsor holes for some golf tournament fundraisers. We brought along fall risk assessments used by occupational therapists and turned them into entertaining challenges for golfers to try between holes.

It was a great way to share an important message about balance, mobility and fall prevention. Here are the challenges we brought with us!

Victoria Lifeline and Victoria Hospital Foundation had a great time sponsoring a hole at the RTAM Retired Teachers' Association of Manitoba's Golf Tournament and put golfers to the test with our fun “fall assessment challenges.” Thank you to all the energetic participants who stopped by and joined us!

Companionship is one of the best forms of medicine. For many older adults, a pet can bring unconditional love, comfort, and a much-needed sense of purpose. For those experiencing isolation, a pet like a dog can help make each day feel less lonely.

Learn more about the special bond that comes with dog ownership and find out if it's a good option for you or a loved one.

Dogs for seniors make for a healthy relationship. From companionship to fitness, many health benefits come from their bond.

We had a wonderful time at the St. Laurent Seniors’ Resource Council's Senior Summer Feast! It was a great opportunity to connect with older adults, people with disabilities and community members from across the Interlake, and even chat with Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew.

Connecting with leaders like the Premier gives us an important opportunity to share how Victoria Lifeline supports not only older adults and people with disabilities, but Manitoba’s healthcare system as a whole.

Thank you to the St. Laurent Seniors’ Resource Council for inviting us to the Senior Summer Feast and creating space for these important conversations!
